    Spinning Rod for plastics

Got a gift card for D Sporting Goods for Christmas that's about to burn a hole in my pocket. I'm looking for a decent spinning rod to be used only with plastics. What should I look for? IM7 or IM8 Also should I go with a light, medium, or med-heavy action? Length 6'6 or 7'0. Just looking for some advice, thanks...

    Re: Spinning Rod for plastics

the rod length, action and grade all depend totally on whats comfortable for you the fisherman. personally, i prefer a 6'6, med.action (or MH depending on the model, but I like med. because it has enough backbone for the hooksets and enough sensitivity to detect lighter bites). the blank really depends on the model too...most IM7's are plenty worthy. good luck!
