Get a 225 EFI Mercury, they really get bad milage. LOL

Thinking of getting a boat with a merc 150 xr6 and would appreciate feedback on the fuel economy of them.

one thing to remember even with the dfi motors is the 10%,gas to horsepower rule of thumb,it is very close.a 150 will burn around 15 gallon an hour and a 225 22.5 gallons and so on at w.f.o..,maybe even a little more,the midrange is where the dfi motors make the big gains.
Would not recomend if you are planning on doing much running at all. I had a 2002 xr6 and while it never gave me any trouble and always started in the 4 years I owned the boat it flat drank the gas. I have a 150 opti now and it uses way less than the xr6. I couldn't beleive the difference. 50 bucks worth of gas goes alot farther now.
