Tiller to console steering?

How much work and more importantly how much does it cost to put a steering console and all the rigging in a john boat? Has anyone been able to do this on the cheap with used parts. What would a good boat mechanic charge for something like this with all new parts? Just wondering for a project down the road.

best thing is if you could find someone who has an old boat setting you can rob the stuff off of.I know a couple guys like pj's marine here by shepherdsville buys old boats so he would have what you need.dealers usually won't sell you a used steering cable so you may have to buy a new one,if so it would run a couple hundred dollars probably,most labor rates are in the $80hr range so if they do it it would get up there a little more.onemorecast may have some stuff too he gets old ones too.
