Crappie Recommendations

With many of the lakes at winter pool and not much cover in the water, just curious if anyone has any lakes they would recommend for winter crappie fishing. I am not looking for spots just some place I can take my son for some winter time fishing within the next month or so. Any help on what lake, cover to look for or what depth would be appreciated. I would also like to ask anyone for any recommendations on where to find some crappie in the winter. My father is retired now, and looking to try to put him on a few winter time slabs as long as the weather stays reasonably mild. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks (I tried to put him on a few at Dale, but had no luck).
