Thinking About going to Woods Creek this spring anybody got any info about the lake and where the marina is located.
The marina is located of Hwy 80, coming from London going towards Somerset turn right at Ott's Grocery. Go straight through the 4 way stop, about a 1/2 mile or so bear right at the fork in the road then basically follow that road until it ends at the marina. I've not been down there for a few months. Last time I was there the ramp had a nasty drop off and I had a difficult time getting my boat on the trailer. But, usually the ramp at the dock is fine. It's a good little lake.
And the home of the state record lm?
I bet a big trout swimbait would work there.
Sounds good to me Don. Does it have any smallmouth? How deep is it. When do you want to go?
Wood Creek is not a terribly deep lake, the only what i'd call deep water is up by the dam, the lower end of the lake is more shallow. Not dangerously shallow, say 15-40'. I personally have never caught a SM out of there and don't believe a large population exist but I have heard of some coming out of there. It's a good spring lake, lots of cover and timber to fish. Good bluegill (size) population too.
Marvin,
I would like to go in the Spring when the big females are up shallow. As long as it doesn't conflict with the Pondhoppers. Any ideas when it's really on?
Not really but waht if we could trade linville off for woods creek?
I fished woodcreek twice this week. Got off work at 3 and went down and fished till about 7 both days. not much goin on either day. managed 3 keeper spots and a 3 1/2lb largemouth. I fish the woodscreek tournament trail every thursday night. Just like any lake, it is exceptional in the spring. There is ALOT of big fish in this lake. I dont think people realize just how may 8lb + fish are swimming in this lake.IVe seen them and caught them. Best for the lake was 10lbs 1 oz. Caught it in early march in about a foot of water, Full moon and it was spittin snow.
