Board to slow

Does anyone know why this board has gotten so slow sometimes or is it just my set up

It might be your set-up. It works fast for me and I check it several times a day.

If you go to the "Ask questions and get tips" board there's a sticky thread on this subject. Try going to User CP, List Subscriptions, and delete all your old subscriptions. Whenever you logon to this board, it loads all your old subscriptions, so if you have a lot of them, it can slow things down. Hope this helps.

The reason the board has become slow lately for me is the advertising sites used. When I get hung trying to load pages, it's always at ad.yieldmanager.com or www.tqlkg.com. If I try to ping either of those sites at the time it's hung, it just times out every time. Sometimes they work and will load ads quickly, while more often it seems like I can't even connect. The admins may want to look into it and try to contact the advertisers and see what's going on and see if they can either fix their servers or try to get new advertisers instead.

I should probably let the admins answer this, but having dealt with a similar situation in my work I can tell you that there is a 99.9% probability the issue is with your browser configuration, not with the advertising. Do you have an ad-blocker add-on to your browser, JB?

I use Firefox exclusively, so the only ad-blocker is the built in one. I'm still not sure why I couldn't ping the site though, if it's the ad blocker. Also, it's not an all-the-time thing. Sometimes, it works as fast as any other page and the ad appears at the top. Sometimes, it hangs, then eventually loads and no ad will appear at the top. I don't know, just seems to me more like a problem with their servers than my browser due to the inconsistency.

Weird. I have Firefox with Adblock plus and have no problems. I know Jim hates to hear that word "Adblock"...

Yeah, it's real wierd. Sometimes it works fast and I get the ads, sometimes it'll stop for about 15-20 seconds (sometimes longer) and then it'll finally load with no ads. I've checked it with IE too and it will do it some. That's why I figured it was the ad servers. I don't know, though. Maybe it will at least help someone who looks into it.

mine is doing the same thing,at times it will load right,others it will come up and say web site found waiting for reply and it will lock on a blank page,i can hit refresh and it will pop right up.I don't have any subscriptions saved.I have dinosaur dial up and figured that alot of the stuff is set up for high speed...i do know when all the videos were on the front page it took bit to load up but the real slow stuff just started on mine a month or so ago...i just figured it's on my end.
