The biologists at KY Lake have been studing the movements of crappie during the changing of the seasons, which include movements during temperature and weather changes. It is fascinating how they relate to temperature, sunlight, Bp and weather fronts during each season. At times, it is interesting how little they move when conditions change.
As fishermen, we do not have such technology so the next best thing would be to keep a fishing journal. I try to keep a journal in my mind, but I am starting to have signs of half-heimer's and mad-cow disease, so I forget two-thirds of what I think I remember. If we recorded the date/time, place of catch, water conditions, weathern pattern, BP, moon phase, baits used, techniques used, fish caught, fish not caught from year to year, we may have a better idea how to repeat our successes. With the electronics we have at hand these days, recording fish movements and patterns is made much easier. This information can also be put into the computer for easier excess.
Maybe some of you who keep fishing journals could can share with us the advantages of keeping such a journal.
