    I use Pam and spray all the guides, although I use one of my "cheaper" rods in the winter, it works really well. I wouldn't spray anything like that on my expensive rods. Not sure if it would hurt them or not, I just won't do it.

    I've seen Bill Dance used the Reel Magic stuff. He sprayed it on the spool and guides and said it works pretty good.

    Any petro base like KY-Jelly,Pam etc. will work and not hurt your rod. I personaly use Vasoline. Swab it on with a Q-Tip and your good to go. If you use solvent base materials it may hurt your rod blank. I say may cause I don't do it. I have been building rods a long time and have seen the effects of some solvents.
