G-Loomis

I have been wanting a G-Loomis rod for a long time now, and I finally have got some spare change to spend. I have felt of all of them and like them but can not decide which one to get. I Smallmouth fish ALOT at Dale and like the bronzeback series. Anyway, can anyone offer some info to help me out? Which one would you guys buy?

I've got the IMX really good all around rod 6.6' med. heavy. About 250.00. Also have the GL2 in a spinning rod also 6.6 Med, heavy.
I like both rods but nobody can tell you whats best for you.

i think this depends on HOW you fish for smallmouth as to what rod is "right" for you. i think the IMX line up is hard to beat. would not go below a 6'6" rod as the extra length really helps with hooksets in deeper water usu fished at DH. MH action would give you the most all around use. now only option left is spinning vs baitcasting. good luck. i have also heard alot about the cumara but have not tried yet.

I'm going to tell you all something...I know a guy in Shively, KY. who sells All-Star rods. He makes his own custom rods. If you are in the market for one of the lightest weight Rods you'll ever pick up and they have the most sensitive tip I have ever felt in my life. Give Tim a call at 502-553-1101 and tell him Clyde Mills recommended his Custom Rods.

I was going to buy 2 All-Star Rods from him, until I picked up one of his Custom Rods he makes. I fell in love with them on the spot. can you imagine a grown man drooling over the thought of using something like this to fish with. I bought 2 of his Custom Rods, one for jig-n-pig fishing and 1 for worm fishing. Both are going to be 7' rods and they cost me $ 140.00 plus tax for each.

If'n you doubt me about the rods ask Eddie Goode, aka Fishin4kids about the rods. Eddie uses one of the rods as well.

Tim does not recommend using braided line on his rods, due to the braid could eat up the eyelets on the rods, which are more expensive than normal eyelets most rods have on them.

So give him a call and go check them out before you buy a Loomis Rod....It will be worth the trip.

I think you are right on about the Bronzeback series, they are incredible rods. The way they are built and the way a smallmouth fight go together. They offer a Bronzeback rod for almost every application also. I own a Bronzeback and it is awesome.
The Mossyback series is also a great way to go. Both of those models are great and really good sellers for us here at Anglers Outpost.
As you probably know with G-Loomis every rod is desgined for a certain purpose, so it really depends on what you are wanting to do with this rod.

I'd say from what I've heard the most popular loomy on Dale is the 7'7" or 7'4" Bronzeback in MH. The word on them is that they have a sensitive tip and the length and backbone to set the hook in deep water. I don't have one myself, so this is all word of mouth.

I do ALOT and I do mean ALOT of DEEP jig fishing At dale Hollow, and other places also. I also use some soft plastics fished in deep water. I would say im a deep water fisherman all around for smallmouth and largemouth. I know I should have said this earlier and im just really trying to get some opinions on what model g loomis everyone likes. Then i will take into consideration what model fits me.

I am assuming that you will be using a baitcaster. If you like longer rods for this application, i would suggest the 7'1" models of either the Mossyback or GLX jig and Worm series, in either med-heavy or heavy.

You like a little shorter rod; they make a 6'8" in those two models and powers.

In the Bronzeback series, there is a 6'9" med-heavy designed for soft plastics and jigging, that would be a good choice as well. I am a really big fan of this line as a whole.

I use the 7'1" mossyback med-heavy and really like the way it handles in every aspect for deep water jigging or using heavier soft plastics.

i like the loomis and i own 3, but the only draw back i have is i have broke all 3 of them twice and have had to go get no ones... all of them broke on the hook set...

I have had 2 G-loomis rods for spinnerbaits and both broke! All of my Cheap rods are still rockin. Broke 1 of the rods on a cast. I would rather spend that much money an a couple rods rather than 1 Loomis. Thats just my opinion.....

I bought the first Bronzeback rod in Lexington. Backwaters was at the Icast in Vegas and ordered. I was at the store when they were opened. That was in O4.

I have a 6"3 fast action tip. I fish 1/8-1/4oz mostly. Sahara 2500 with 6lb Excel. I have used crankbaits, tubes, spinnerbaits, buzzers, ect. It's a great creekrod for smallmouth.
Being at Dale I'd invest in a Gloomis F-n-F Rod. Bronzeback series of course.
It's a 9"6 and setups well with this type of fishing.
I have a Bronzeback F-n-F rod.
