I have not used them but have felt them at my work. I work at Bass Pro Shops in the fishing department. We just got those reels in last week. They don't feel too bad, but for me and not just because I work there I would give some consideration to the Bass Pro Brand. We have three different versions and they all have that wide spool to them. I also find it kind of weird that the company is named US Reels but on their boxes it says MADE IN CHINA.
thats the really sad part of the whole fishing industry, every reel is made over seas somewhere. Ardent Reels are I believe are the only ones made here, and maybe a few Penns. Where are those BPS reels made?
Hello,
Thanks for the input. I do a lot of river fishing in the spring and need to replace a couple of reels. I was interested in US Reels for the long cast. They seem a little high in price considering the the construction specs. I do have a Penn that has held up really well. I'll keep looking.
Thanks
Unfortunatly the Bass Pro reels are made in china as well. There are only about a handful of reels that are not made there but just one company that I can think of are made in the USA. Ardent is still American made. Shimano are not made in china but I think they are made in japan or thailand.
I have the original Supercaster 225 that was made in the US. It does not cast any further then my Stradic 2500. I prefer a Stradic.
