    Re: Bout ready to BUST!

I was just out flipping to the neighbors cat yesterday. I like to close my eyes and it feels like a 7 pounder.

Yeah I feel you Andy - In the past 2 weeks I ordered some Megabass from Japan along with some crazy japanese plastics, some other plastics from Louisianna, some new local made shaky heads, and just got back from Gander Mountain here buying some of the new berkley 100% floro to try out. Thank goodness Bass Pro isn't having a sale on right now - I have been fighting the urge for a new spinning set-up.

I never put my boat up. If it is safe to trailer it then I am on the water. Of course I am fishing for Big Catfish during the dead of winter, with a heater on the boat..the Java, and just kicked back waiting for the one fish of a lifetime that will rock your world. Dont think I could stay in all winter..Warren (trophycats)

I'm heading to the fossil beds tomorrow, waters coming up pretty quick so I'll probably leave the boat home and hit one of my little honey holes down there. I'll sauger fish and put a big ole piece a cut skip out in a deep hole I know of. Matter of fact same hole I got the fish on my avatar...Chuck

I think I've had more fun fishing this winter than I've ever had in the summer. I'm off to Dale in the morning....

Mangaged a 41-45-49 and 51lbers yesterday. And a few in the low 20's. That is the reason I dont mind going out in the cold/rain, it will sure get your heart pumping lol. I know it isnt the green or bronze fish you guys chase but it is my thing and i gotta love it..warren

I would love to hook up with a cat that big. When we go to the river about the largest we have gotten is about 15 pounds

Nice report, what do you do with catfish that big? Are they good to eat when they are that big?

They don't eat very good when they are that big. If you cut off ALL of the red meat maybe but a 80lber is better to release to live another day. As far as bait goes these guys use everything from cut bait to live bait they catch out of the river. I've seen riverrat use skipjack herring up to 13 inches long whole. Think about it, a 40 pound plus blue is like you eating a halloween size snickers, just a snack, LOL.

All cats that me and my clients catch over 10lbs are photograhed and released. If they want to keep the ones below 10lbs then i dont have a problem with it. I take some great photos of their cats and if they want a replica made then we will measure the fish, length/girth and make sure we have pics of all sides of the fish. Then they are put back in the water to fight another day. warren
