what works in the winter????

ok, assuming the temps in our lakes here are in the high 30's and 40's, other then a jig-n-pig what some good lure choices for fishing theese sort of situations?? i generally wait until i know the temps are in the 50's -60's and can use lures and techniuqes i have cofidence in but i am going stir crazy and have to get out this week or weekend. i am not a seasoned winter time bass fisherman yet but i am working on it. thanks in advance for any tips.

if u know how to float n fly try that..... some people throw crank baits in the backs of creeks and pockets..... i like throwin em right down the center and workin each side after that..... but try and use something that runs in the 10 ft range..... throw a shaky head or drop shot..... but what ever u do this time of year do it slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.......

if it's been a steady cold where the temps are staying at 40 or less with little fluctuating i like the the slow stuff.road runners and larger crappie tubes have caught good fish for me in the winter.when it has been this cold with the water in the 34 degree range and a warm rain comes in like they say is coming can turn a spinnerbait and crankbite wide open.fish where the water is running in.i was out this evening walking around a pond and saw a fish hit something just under the surface,and there were some right on the bank.I always throw a crank or jerkbait suspender just work it slow.

The cold is not as bad as you may think right now. I could have caught some good fish this past week end with the warm up if I could have gotten out. I think if one looked they could find water pushing 50 and fish are very catchable at that temp. My goto lures in winter are small. I rarely use casting rods fishing small cranks, jerks, and jigs. And when I say jigs tubes or curly tails produce better for me than a jig and pig. Now if you want to fish for a really big fish a jig and pig would be a good bet. The trick in the winter is to find where the fish are at. They pack tighter in the winter than other times. When you find them and they are half in the mood you can catch dozens in a spot no bigger than your living room. You just have to find that spot. Have patience, watch your water temps, and fish slow.

the big t-ville was 37-39 and muddy and nolin is 38-41,may find some 50 if there is a steam pipe near by.talked to my partner abot 2 hours ago and that's the warmest he found,nolin muddyish to moutadier colored on to the the dam.
