The cold is not as bad as you may think right now. I could have caught some good fish this past week end with the warm up if I could have gotten out. I think if one looked they could find water pushing 50 and fish are very catchable at that temp. My goto lures in winter are small. I rarely use casting rods fishing small cranks, jerks, and jigs. And when I say jigs tubes or curly tails produce better for me than a jig and pig. Now if you want to fish for a really big fish a jig and pig would be a good bet. The trick in the winter is to find where the fish are at. They pack tighter in the winter than other times. When you find them and they are half in the mood you can catch dozens in a spot no bigger than your living room. You just have to find that spot. Have patience, watch your water temps, and fish slow.
