Anybody got any words of wisdom about the R-series.
Not sure what you are looking for here...I can tell you I have been running an R-91 for quite a while and it has more hours on it than most people put on a boat in a lifetime...no stress cracks..handles the big water good...well built just like any Ranger.
we have an r-93 and its great...handles any big, shallow,or rough water great just like any ranger...we have a 200 merc on it and itll run about 71 with 1 person in the boat
I have a 2000 model R93 and am very satisfied. It handles the big water well, and has a great comfortable ride. It handles well and fishes well too. The only complaint I have about it is that the front seat is a little too far forward, and I find myself fishing without it a lot of times so I don't feel so cramped towards the front of the boat. I also wish that the tackle storage bin had a flat floor in it...it's like a "V" instead of being flat which means you have to put a board of somekind in there to get a flat surface. Those are very minor complaints though.
I have a 200 merc EFI on mine with a 25 pitch trophy 4-balde prop and can get about 63 mph out of it. I'm sure a different prop would make it faster, but that's not what I'm all about...I like the thrust of that 4-blade when navigating KY Ocean when she's kicking up those big ol' rollers!
which series of ranger boats are supposed to be the fastest?i have a friend in our bass club that has an "R" series with a 175 hp and he tells me the boat will run with anything on the water with the same hp engine.he says the "R" series is a lighter boat.thanks
an allison or bullet 20xd with a 175,he wouldn't stay close enough to smell their exhaustseriously though no ranger has ever been built to race, just ride you from hole to hole, from what i see on bbc i'd say the zseries are the fastest.
Way wrong on that one! Rangers are made to ride good and be comfortable---not speed.
