    Re: Optima Batteries

I have them for trolling motor batteries on both boats. They seem to hold a charge longer for me. The main reason that I initially bought them was for the troll fury system for one of my 12V trolling setups. I can't speak for how long they'll last as I've only had them for 14 mos or so.

They are pricey and I don't know that I would spend the money on them for a 24V setup. I think you can get a full day of power out of some less expensive batteries such as interstate and others.

I too can vouch for the "other" types of batteries for a 24 volt system. I use everstart batteries from Wally World.... They are warranted for two years and if anything goes wrong with one or both...No problem...name a small town or street that doesn't have a Wal-Mart close by for making exchanges...Providing you keep the receipt... I keep my receipts in the small plastic compartment attached to the battery...That way I never lose my receipts and they are handy to get at.....

Optimas are very good. You will need the blue tops for trolling motor. Expensive, but hold full power all day. They will not run down during the course of the day like a lot of others. I have used them in my last two boats, and will use nothing else.

    Re: Optima Batteries

i'll chime in with everyone else, its what you need for 12v, but you can buy 2 interstate or deka for 1 optima, so, for 24v a set of good trolling batteries will do...

sure is nice to be able to beat that optima around and take it back for up to 2 years, though i have taken one back before, i got a free replacement and the 2 year guarantee was renewed

the blue top optima is your best bet if you are definitly leaving it in your boat(12v), but if it is going to be a multi purpose, i would get a yellow top... i have used my yellow top in my boat, truck, racecar, and tractor... no doubt the most versitile battery out there
