I agree. Really dissapointed about the coverage. Even when they werent at commercial, they didnt show much fishing action. It was alot of coverage about previous classics. Then maybe a breif shot of someone boating a large one. I thought last yrs coverage was bad.

Re: How about that BASS coverage

I sent them an email last year and let them how disappointed I was. I guess it didn't matter because it is worse this year than last. Just bring back Ray Scott.

They showed 3 hours of fishing today and it was all from day one. They never showed the leader out on the water. Sad. That is one reason why I don't get Bassmaster any more.

Re: How about that BASS coverage

It is disappointing, and the up-to-date blog they have going on bassmaster.com is not even worth looking at either, they are normally way behind and not very accurate.
The TV coverage is just awful, they have spent more time in hyping it then they show actual fishing, the guys at ESPN have no real concept of what we as fisherman and lovers of the sport want to see.

Re: How about that BASS coverage

I too am really upset at BASS and ESPN. My subsription recently expired and I used my debit card to pay for it last year. I got a notice saying they would automatically deduct from my account unless I responded. I didn't respond because my card expired and I new it wouldn't go through without the new exp date. I got 5 emails saying my card failed to process. Then one day get a letter saying it processed and my membership is active.

The coverage has gotten terrible. Fishing has become commercialized and we or at least I have bought into a little bit. I go out and buy hats and shirts with my favorite brands of lures and line on them. However, I still want to see a guy on the water catching fish. In the past you could learn a lot - you knew what he was throwing, where he was at, what his game plan was, how he is presenting the lure. Now all we see is the hook set, placement in the livewell, and the touchdown dance.

I too emailed ESPN last year to express my frustration as to what they have done with BASS. If FLW will do there thing and not get sucked it to same trap that BASS did, then FLW will be the new leader in pro fishing. I am thankful for the Outdoor network and Versus.

I agree. Their live "LAkeCam" is a nothing but hype and bunk. It's a stationary camera on the bank showing the same scene, although live for six hours. Why did ESPN bother to purchase BASS? Anybody know?

My guess is they thought they had a "captive audience" with us "dumb ole fisherman"............it is ALL about TV and the TV stars !! Not fishin !!

Re: How about that BASS coverage

For those of you who want Ray Scott back, don't forget who sold BASS out to ESPN. He had taken control back from the lady in Alabama. Then sold out to ESPN and in turn totally ruined the federation. Check it out........every time I get a notice about renewing with BASS I write on the notice that "as long as Ray Scott and ESPN is involved they won't get any of my money". On the back of the card I write "thanks for paying the postage". I then slip it into the postpaid envelope and mail it.........

Re: How about that BASS coverage

I agree coverage this morning was poor. Did you notice the weigh in shows are on primetime at a whooping 10pm both Saturday and Sunday

My take is that ESPN tried to make bass fishing big sport and could not so now they seek (some understandibly) just to make it profitable to show period. Notice for example how bass saturday has dropped to little to nothing. Replays they used to do on ESPN2 at 5am each morning of the workweek have been gone for a year now.

Now the web coverage is even worse because it is so easy and cheap to track what is happening on the lake and just put it out on the web.

I wonder if it would be good to have gone down to SC? I almost did it but my wife had a party today that I apparently agreed to several months ago

the expo is lots of fun! i went 2 years ago while vacationing in Fla and had a blast. new products, pros everywhere (and MOST generally friendly), lots of free giveaways and sweepstakes to enter in. to me this was better than watching the weigh in. if you get a chance, GO you will enjoy yourself.
