    Question Rain Gear

I am heading to BP this weekend for the Spring Sell. Looking at buying some new rain gear. Was wondering what you guys thought about the Gortex Pro Quilifier Rain Suite. Bips and Parka. Pro's and Con's? And what do you guys prefer for a good comfortable waterproof shoe or boot?

I think that rain suit looks good. As long as you care for gore-tex properly it will las for a while. As far as shoes - I usully wear a pair of Gore-tex hiking shoes, but every once in a while (rare) I will get some water over the top when my bibs ride up a bit. I am going to get some just basic cheap rubber boots for this year. Go extra room with your rain gear - you may want to throw a couple layers under (1 - 2 sizes too big in the parka) They will usually fit big anyway. And 1 size bigger on Bibs, as long as they are not too long. Try them on and see how easy it is to move around, kneel, squat, and sit to make sure they are not too short. I think for the price that combo of parka and bibs will be hard to beat. I would go ahead and get a gore-tex patch kit. It seems like every time I wear a new jacket out, I will get a hook in kit that day.

The pro qualifier bibs/jacket was some of the best money i've ever spent. Like the other fellow said get it a little big, where you can layer up underneath, and hand wash instead of machine and it will last you for years.

Sounds good, I was planning on getting that rainsuit also. My old Wal-mart FLW raingear is on it's last leg, but it has been good to me. Sounds like the Pro Qualifier will be a nice upgrade. How about the zip in vest, is it a good investment for the suit?

Is there a product to use on Gore-tex that keeps it water proof?
