    Congrats Chunknwind on you Smallie...

Guys and Gals, I wish to put out a big CONGRATS to Mr. Chunknwind on landing his first 5lb Smallie. He went to Dale yesterday and caught a nice 5-4 beauty on the FNF. I sure wish I was there in person to witness this event for it is too long in the making. He braved all the elements even though he forgot his boots and fished all day in socks and tennis shoes. Here is one to you Hens, excellent job on your first of many 5 pounders. Elnut

Congrats man. Any fish on the FNF is a blast, but a 5+ smallie now that had to be fun. And nerve racking..

Thanks for the post Elwood. Sorry guys no pics. Actually, it was all I could do to get her measured and weighed with the wind pushing me mach ten toward the bank. Yep, that was my first five pounder, now I've got to break that keeper barrier(it went 20 inches). Cliff

Good work Chunknwind! I hear what you're saying in regards to breaking that 20" mark...lots of really REALLY nice smallmouth down there at Dale but breaking that 20" mark seems hard to do. I haven't done it yet.

May this be the first of many. It doesn't come any better than that unless it is the that elusive record.

Way to go Chunknwind! I don't know if you remember me but I met you last year down at Dale. My goal the last few years has been to net a five pounder also. To date I have come up short by a few ounces on two occasions. I have broken the 21" barrier twice but these have been thin smallies. Great job on working hard and keeping a positive attitude as I know that is what it takes. Also, having Elwood as a mentor didn't hurt either as I expect. He has sure helped my chances many fold. Again, great job and on to that six pounder now! Hope to see you down on Dale again.

Good job Cliff any smalljaw over 4lb is a good one and one over 5lb is a great fish. My biggest from Dale was 22 1/2 inches long. Touched the end of my Golden Rule right on the nose. It weighed 5lb and 2oz's. I have not caught a smallmouth over six pound yet, my biggest to date is 5lb 7oz at Cumberland in March. My goal in fishing is an 8lb brown bass, maybe someday, oh well a guy can dream can't he, lol. For me smallmouth fishing is just it, I've never caught a green bass that turns me on like them ole brown fish.
