On the other hand I don't see how someone who mimmicks our current president, as McCain does, can seem right for this country. Bush was an obvious failure in almost every aspect of his administrative duties - and I don't see how anyone can argue that. We obviously need some reform, and he seems like the only one left in this race that is committed to change. I highly suggest to anyone to look at Obama's website and read his philosophies and views on the major issues - they make sense. I have looked at McCain's, read over his issues, and studied them - and he seems content in continuing and adding to a crappy legacy that Bush founded.
    I don't agree on everything either candidate has to say. How in the world is Obama going to fund the universal healthcare idea? He says by repealling the tax cuts for incomes over 250K? That's it huh? You know better than that. Aren't you taxed enough? How and when does it end? I don't want the government in every aspect of my life and making decisions for me. Why does that sound so good to you? The government controlling anything goes south wouldn't you agree? If not tell me a few things that they (dem and rep) have done that runs as good as the private sector? There is no accountability with them they have a never ending supply of money and ideas and that's dangerous.

    I don't want the govt in every aspect of my life either, for the reasons you stated. Given this, why is it that soooo many repubs want the govt to legislate morality and similar "family value" issues?

    Wow...what Have I Been Missing While I Was At Work! Good Thread! Good, Old-fashion Reps Against Dems...i Like It! I've Been Working A Lot Lately...trying To Save Some Money So That If Hillbama Wins, I Have Something To Support My Family With.

    Love The "bush" Cool-aid Being Served Up...tastes Good! I Love How The Dems Focus All Their Attention On "hating Bush" And Not On "the Issues". It Has To Be So Pleasant In Dem-land...i Can See It Now...the Whole World Holds Hands Around A Campfire And Sings "cumbiya My Lord", Hillbama Convinces Terrorists That Killing Is Bad And That They Don't Need To Do It Anymore, Then Money Falls From The Sky And Funds Universal Healthcare And Boosts The Economy....it's Beautiful!

    For The Rest Of Us...terrorism Will Never Stop, Especially If You Run From It And Pretend It Will Just Go Away (9/11). Tax Increases Will Hurt The American Family And Destroy The Economy. Universal Healthcare Is A Proven Failure. Reality Is Hard, But Some Of Us Have To Live In It. For The Rest Of You, Enjoy Your Drink.

    Rich, not sure where you got the " the Whole World Holds Hands Around A Campfire And Sings "cumbiya My Lord", Hillbama Convinces Terrorists That Killing Is Bad And That They Don't Need To Do It Anymore," stuff from. May be you have seen something I haven't. Can you post a link?

    I did check around his web site (http://www.barackobama.com/issues/) and did find the info below. Doesn't really sound like he is wanting to talk to terrorists to me.

    if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda.

    Obama will launch the most aggressive diplomatic effort in recent American history to reach a new compact on the stability of Iraq and the Middle East. This effort will include all of Iraq's neighbors including Iran and Syria. This compact will aim to secure Iraq's borders; keep neighboring countries from meddling inside Iraq; isolate al Qaeda; support reconciliation among Iraq's sectarian groups;

    Now is the time to pressure Iran directly to change their troubling behavior. Obama would offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization, economic investments, and a move toward normal diplomatic relations. If Iran continues its troubling behavior, we will step up our economic pressure and political isolation. Seeking this kind of comprehensive settlement with Iran is our best way to make progress.

    Not really directed at any one person. I've read comments here by several repubs who seem to thing that if the dems have the White House, then the family will degrenerate. Repubs are the only ones who care about "family values" there their legislation will help families.

    I always assumed family values came from values within the family (parents), not legislation. I guess the repulicans want to "privatize" everything except for family values, where they see that government support is needed.

    Re: Dem Debate

    I feel that family values come from the home. I know that no party or President will teach me or my family how to instill those values. We get our direction from a blend of what our parents taught us, school of hard knocks, the internal heart felt drive to give our daughter the best and most important....our Christian beliefs.

    I mean't (our) by my family. Going to Church or Men's Ministry get togethers just keeps you reminded of the family things on a weekly basis. Of course alot of people/families do the same...some of us just need a weekly reminder. Heck, my Mom worships Budha and my Dad ia a Southern Baptist so you can imagine the things I sorted through! Ha Ha

    Probably gave you a better appreciation for various belief systems. There are plenty of religions and cultures out there. Some interesting things from all of them.
