when i was younger about 12 or 13 i was fishin off a dock at my old neighbor hood pond with a 1/4 jig that i had just got at walmart and i had seen the guys on tv ripping big fish out of the reeds and grass on the big o and such so i thought i would try it.... i went and got my dads spidercast rod and tied the jig on cause i had heard how good that braid was... there was a wad of cattails growin about 10 feet from the side of the dock i casted it over there and was workin out the backlash this was one of my first experiences with a baitcaster and no stretch line.... id say the cat tails was about 2 or 3 feet deep and i picked up the lure and set it down like i had been taught to worm fish... then i felt a tick and i set the hook and i only had about 10 feet of line out and the hook came ripping out of the cattails over my head and then slingshoted right into the back of my head burrying the hook... it really didnt hurt that bad until i went home and dad tried to get it out.. but nope a 12 year old scared to death with a 3/0 hook stuck in the back of their head isnt a good combo.. so dad goes to take me to the hospital....and here is the bad part i get in the vehicle and my dad isnt a small guy by no means i had my arm on the center console holding the jig and wam dad hits my arm and it jerks the jig oh lordy that was bad... but thru it all when they numbed my head with that crap they use it hurt worse for them to numb it that the whole jig in my head.... plus dad had to cut the hook cause the doc was a wimp and couldn't....
