It should be easy for you to do well, especially at that time of year. It has standing timber in some areas, and that's probably where I'd be hanging out for most of the day. I haven't fished it but a few times, but that's where I had my best luck during late March. Anything that puts out good vibration and thumps around those trees should be what you're looking to try, or at least that's my thoughts on it.
I didn't comment because I am by far not a Nolin expert. All that being said I've fished it enough to be dangerous I guess. For me the jig especially that time of year you will catch fish on. I'd look at fishing the deeper rock banks where the channel swings near like in Dog Creek to name one. Black and blue jigs with matching trailers will produce and work it way out off the bank into 15 feet or so and you should get a few nice keepers. Rip rap around the bridges produces pretty good to with those jigs. Good luck and tell us how you did.
I have a tourney down there this weekend and then we are holding the UofL fundraiser down there next weekend, so Ill be on the lake both weekends....This weekend im guessing will be pretty tough as they are pulling the lake REALLY hard right now, but ill make sure and post and let you know how it goes, even though hopefully the bite will change quite a bit by then. What tournament are you fishing that weekend?? Only reason im asking is i have one the same day down there.
don't look like it's gonna take long for em to get sore mouthed..3 or 4 tx's a weekend for the next 3 months..![]()
mastin im fishing a kentuckyhunting.com tourny over there if thats the lake we decide on...its between there, cumberland or barren
Be carefull, I hope you will have a partner that knows the lake, it is dangerous if ya try to fish near dog creek or above!!!!! They pulled it 2.5 Feet Yesterday . Where are you starting from, AND HOW MANY BOATS?
Rowdy
I usualy catch them in the lip lol Good luck im fishing nolin the 2nd,8th,16th,and 29th of march.Raincheck![]()
If the wind is blowing and the sun is up high and bright then look for flats at the mouths of the big creeks. I always start in dog creek and hit the flats with a c-rig and lipless baits then I'll go to the mouth of rock creek and hit the flats there especially if the wind is really blowing good across the flats those fish will get up there shallow and get some warm up in the sun. And whoever told you that wasn't a good population of good bass was dead wrong. There's a great population in that lake. it can be rough finding them but their there. Many T's won in the spring with 20 lb bags. Their there you just have to hunt them out.

I HAVE FISHED IT BEFORE AND HAVE DONE WELL WITH JIGS AND JERKBAITS....I LIKE THOSE SPOONBILL MINNOWS { CROME AND BLUE } AND BLACK AND BLUE 1/2 TO 3/4 OZ JIGS. THIS IS WHAT I USED TO COME IN 2ND PLACE IN A KBF TOURNAMENT. GOOD LUCK
