Good luck catching 10 keepers on Beaver!This is what I'd do on a nice clean private rrrrr public lake like Beaver. Go there for day trips on my non-KY/DH weekends and pay their crazy $5-10 launch fee. Then stick 10 keepers, fire up the electric knife and clean them all right there at the ramp every Saturday for a few months. Fresh fish always makes me feel like I've been compensated a little especially when you have a situation like this.
Night fishing in the Summer can avoid a lot of this drama too.
After we get through jacking them for several years, they'll be calling it Taylorsville South.
This is in response to the inquiry concerning the maximum boat motor horsepower restriction at Beaver Lake and several other lakes throughout the state. There is an error in the 2008 Kentucky Fishing and Boating Guide on page 37 where it states that “10 HP or slow speeds which cause no disturbance or interference with fishing are required on: Beaver Lake, Boltz Lake, Bullock Pen Lake, Corinth Lake, Elmer Davis Lake, Cranks Creek Lake (Herb Smith Lake), Kincaid Lake, Shanty Hollow Lake, and Swan Lake.”
The correct version should read, “10 HP maximum operated at slow speeds which cause no disturbance or interference with fishing are required on: Beaver Lake, Boltz Lake, Bullock Pen Lake, Corinth Lake, Elmer Davis Lake, Kincaid Lake, Shanty Hollow Lake, and Swan Lake.
This wording is a summary of the Kentucky Administrative Regulation 301 KAR 1:015 “Boat and motor restrictions”. Section 5 of this administrative regulation states that “on the following lakes, a person shall not operate a boat motor larger than ten (10) horsepower:
(1) Shanty Hollow Lake, Warren County;
(2) Bullock Pen Lake, Grant County;
(3) Boltz Lake, Grant County;
(4) Kincaid Lake, Pendleton County;
(5) Elmer Davis Lake, Owen County;
(6) Beaver Lake, Anderson County;
(7) Corinth Lake, Grant County; and
(8) Swan Lake, Ballard County.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources would like to apologize for any inconvenience this error in the 2008 Kentucky Fishing and Boating Guide may have caused.
This should be corrected on their website.
I'm late getting in on this conversation, but if I can idle on Carnico why can't I idle on Corinth, Beaver, and Kinkaid.
I once tried to idle back on Corinth with the trolling motor down while leaning on the butt seat and my partner sitting in the passenger side of the bench, but it looked like we were dusting for mosquitos with all the smoke from the Evinrude.
Stoner
Stoner,
It's a big load of crap any way you slice it.
Love ur handle.
Mark
Sure looks like I stirred up the pot with this topic.
Elwood: Go the KDFWR website and download the 2008 Fishing and Boating Regulations. Unless I missed something, what the 2008 regs says is 10HP or idle speed on Beaver. Check it out and if you read it the same way as I do, I would call the officer you talked to back and ask him if the regs on their official website are official or not....like I said...I may be missing it but I read on their website basically the same thing you did in the Wal Mart handout.

Its nice to fishn a lake with out jet skiers, and water skiers, if you cant stand that, go someplace else, it is a free country, or get a small kicker motor, my 5 hp 4 stroke, on my deep vee, lets me fish any dam place I want to. Sometimes a little brain power is better than a lotr of horse power.And that little 4 stroke runs ALL day on just three gallons of fuel. Electric only lake, got two trolling motors also.
The guy that runs the dock at beaver is Arnold Eversole real nice guy he bought the dock about a year ago. I have his number if anybody wants it.
Buy a few more batteries....LOL!
I know I stirred up the pot but when I do fish Beaver this spring or summer, I will have the "Free" Regs and a printed copy of the website with me. If and when Johnny Fish and Wildlife person decides to cite me, he/she will have both copies given to them and let them explain it to me in person. First to admit I am not the smartest guy in the world, hell, I am not the smartest guy in my boat even when I am fishing alone, but I don't see how in the world a ticket can stand up in court with the "Free" Idiot version and the "Version" dowloaded from the "Official" website states I can run my big motor as long as I am not disturbing the natives. May even just take a video camera and get some moving pictures of all those 9.9's "Disturbing" me on the back of the Natives Pontoons for a little added bonus coverage. See you on the water, you will spot me very easily for I will be the Fat Guy in handcuffs.
