Is there a good way to repair a crack in the insulation on the transducer cable? The wire is not broken but exposed. The insulation is split near the transducer head.

I would say any marine grade caulk/sealant as MSG mentioned above. I would talk to a local marine/mechanic to see if they would recommend a specific brand for your situation.

The 2 part epoxy that msg recommended worked good for me. I used it 2 yrs ago and still don't have any problems
liquid electrical tape, like what Starbrite makes, then maybe some heat shrink or electrical tape to keep it protected from abrasion. If its submerged like on trolling motor, I'd definitely use more than just tape. scuff up the surrounding cable jacket slightly so whatever sealant/adhesive you chose will adhere well.
