I've heard that the fishing on Kentucky Lake has really picked up. I have a fishing trip there scheduled to start this friday. Staying in Johnathon creek. What do you guys think will happen to the fishing with the bad weather that is forcasted. And if anyone has any suggestions on what to throw it would be greatly appreciated. I am very inexperianced on this lake and need all the help I can get.
Thanks

The cold snap will not effect the small mouth on the east side of Kentucky as bad as the Largemouth I would try Pointer jerk baits. I think by Friday the fish will have become adjusted to the cold front and should have a decent bite. Go to the front page and click on fishing report go to Kentucky lake and check out Dave Stewarts report I think he will update it tomorrow night. I think the crappie will move back out to brush ples but will still bite.
Looks like a stronger front will arrive Friday. Be very careful crossing this lake to the East side in windy conditions. Also be aware of the water depth at the mouth of Jonathan. There is no crossing channel directly at the mouth. You will have to run to the island and it crosses diagonally to the east side. Stay inside the bouys this time of year and study a good map. That is a dangerous part of the lake and you can run into real skinny water quickly.I had a decent day there last Sunday fishing secondary points and a couple humps near the mouth of the creek.
If there is a good North / NorthWest wind be prepared to have your butt handed to you. Apextrail is correct ... coming out of J Creek use the channel markers or you will be looking for your lower unit. If you run the inside shoot on the island USE the channel markers it is VERY skinny and stump heaven at the South end of the island.
We have a winter storm warning here for tonight and Friday...also wind high wind warnings....Saturday is gonna be cold and windy...if it were me I would opt for another weekend...I have already cancelled my guide trips for Friday and Saturday...that should tell you something. My report will go up sometime later today or this evening.
I'll be there on Friday but probably wait till Sunday to fish. Weather looks to improve as the week goes on so it should be a good time.
They are showing a pretty good forcast for Sun. through Wed. Be careful on your way here Fri. because we will be getting a winter storm.
Next week does look good if forecast holds.....have a safe trip down here.
