I bought a half pound of minnows at Smyrna a month or so ago that had a number of "pinkies" in there, but I've never seen anybody selling batches of just albinos.

Anyone know where I can get Rosie Red minnows? They are reddish in color and sometimes called albino minnows although they are not white. I'll try to post a picture when i find one.

Sorry, can't help you in the Louisville area, but I purchased them several times last year in the Barkley Lake area near Grand Rivers. Also, met a guy on the Ohio (Newburgh Dam) while sauger fishing who raises them in his pond and he swares by them.

Rosie Reds are mainly sold at pet stores for around 12-15 cents apiece. They're used as feeder minnows for people who keep large fish such as chiclids in aquariums.
Suggest you put the question to the guys at www.crappie.com

There are bait shops around Kentucky and Barkley that used to carry them. They may be able to ship. Some of the boys on the site that live around the twin lakes could probably give you some phone numbers I think Bait and bullets at Aurora Ky. used to have them.
The Evansville Worm Ranch sells them at times. They are located on the NE side of Evansville, IN. They may be able to ship some to you if you pay for the shipping. But I'll give you their telephone number and let you call and talk to BILL or his son Matt. They may not have any right now. Ph number (812) 477-4534. Evansville Worm Ranch; 7349 Old Boonville Highway; Evansville, IN.
The rosey reds are grown in Arkansas and that's where the Worm Ranch gets their minnows from.
We used a very simlar type bait years ago down at KY lake in the 1950's. Or maybe those were gold fish minnows. LOL I just remember that they were red colored minnows.
I have used rosey red around the Evansville, IN area and caught boat loads of crappie with them.

Where are you going fishing?
The only thing that I don't like about the rosey reds is that they are SO SLIPPERY. They are very hard to hang onto. I hate having to bend over to pick them back up after dropping them two or three times in a row. I'll bet that I drop about 75% of the minnows that I get out of the minnow bucket on every trip using rosey reds. LOL They just are very slippery minnows.
They are good bait and if you put them in a 5 gallon bucket of cold water with a dozen cubs they will outlive the chubs. I buy my minnows by the lb and usually throw in a 1/4 lb of rosey reds with a 1/4 lb of small cubs. I can keep 1/2 lb of minnows alive for several weeks if I change the water often, treat the tap water with chemicals, aerate and keep the water cool with frozen bottles of water.
