Was looking forward to fishingn the cumberland river today. Got to the ramp at burkesville, and while the river is fairly clear, the current is more than Iwant to deal with.Plus the fact that debris is flowing down stream would hinder the trolling, and its to swift to do any good jig fishing, went home. As long as lake cumberland is above 680, this will continue.Severel years ago, I would have just went upstream to my favorite eddy, tied up to a tree, and fished corn, with barbless hooks,but since I dont keep anything , why go through the aggravation of loosing sinkers, hooks,baits. Thought about going back to the lake, but these sore old bones need another day to recover from yesterday.Since I finally smartened up, and there is a better day coming sometimes, I'll just sit back and wait for it.

A friend and I went to fish below the hatchery Tuesday and planned on staying a few days since the fishing report posted last week said the sauger were stacked up below the dam. I don't know if they were stacked up or not since we didn't land any . Talked to a fellow fisherman there,who was in the only boat besides our there, and he said last week the fish bite was on but with the cold front coming in the fish shut down. Fished Tuesday and part of Wednesday and decided we had beaten the dead horse enough and headed back north to home. We did manage to catch 2 over 12 inch crappie and 2 over 13 inch rainbows and 2 bass, one little smallmouth and a largemouth about a pound and a half. We also caught a brown trout a little over 19 inches and a little under 20. A good fight but a throwback.
Like I always say that is why they call it fishing and not catching. I can't wait for spring..
