I used to tie a lot of flies when I lived in colorado for trout fishin, but havent tied any in the last few years since I moved to Kentucky for School and started bass fishing. got the idea the other day that I should start tying teaser feathers on all my jerkbaits and spooks. Anyone else do this? I tied a few the other day, but was wondering what materials everyone uses. I used hackle feathers for a few and maribou for a couple as well, thinking the action might be better. They look pretty good, and it gives me a chance to get the tying stuff out of the closet. What do you all use?

I tie hackle/bucktail teasers on the back hook of all the redfins that I throw for stripers. I can't swear that it helps, but I can swear that it doesn't hurt.
I have been making my own teaser hooks for striper and bass for a while now because of the quality and price you find in stores. It is difficult to evaluate if they work any better than hooks without when fish are actively feeding, but they may help when fish are reluctant to feed. I don't think the feather should overly long or short, and if you can add some reflective material to catch the light, it is even better.
