Suggestions on type of line to use

I have been out of the tournament scene since 2003 due to an ankle injury but was curious what most people prefered to use as far as type of line while fishing Jerkbaits for instand Deep suspendending roagues.

    Thanks in advance.

I like a 12# flouro. Sometimes I use Gamma Co-polymer. However, 90% of the time (excluding crankbaits and topwater) I use flourocarbon. I like Seaguar the best in 12# and up, and Berkley 100% for lighter lines.

Mono for shallow runners or top.
fluro for cranks or any type of bait you need to get deep. braid for heavy cover or thick veg. also good for light baits in deep water.

    hope this helps.

I understand why no Flouro on the topwater but why not on Cranks. I use Flouro on EVERYTHING except towater and flipping the buck brush and know the Crankbaits get to the desired depths more so with Flouro than Mono. Just wondering why not on Crankbaits??

I kind of like having a little bit of stretch on my shallow crankbaits, and I don't see the need of a more sensitive line with these. I was mainly talking about my shallower crankbaits (bandits 200-300). These are the crankbaits I fish most often. I will usually use a 12# Gamma on these. However, on my deep crankbaits (I rarely fish these) I will use a light Flouro. I am going to make myself fish these a little more this summer - they just make my arm tired (I guess i am lazy). I have only got into them a few times on the Deep divers (DD22's) - I usually do much better with Jigs on ledges. Just haven't gained the confidence in them I guess.

I like standard Seaguar Flouro (Carbon Pro) in 12 lb. for jerkbaits. I hear the invis-x is nice, but I haven't tried it yet. I have tried several (BPS, P line, Vanish) and Seaguar seems to work the best for me for everything 12 lb. and up.

I'm using Gamma Edge FC in 10 or 12# for jerkbaits and cranks. Great line and the only FC I've fished where I can tell an improvement in sensitivity. I've not had a knot fail or unusual breakoff with this line like many of the other FC's I've tried. It is not cheap and that would be the drawback. BPS pure FC is one that I have not tried that people I know seem to like.

I use 12lb seaguar insx on a couple of rods that i use 4 cranking. 15lb seaguar invsx on most all my other rods(worm, jigs, spinnerbaits and rattletraps) and then 20lb flouro for flipping and as a main line for carolina rigging. Mono for topwaters. I love the Invis-x line, and i like the BPS flouro 2. The Invis-x seems to be alot limper line than any of the others ive tried. I have yet to try the 100% flouro by Berkley, but i probably will if they start making bulk spools of it

I use Seaguar Invizx 12# on my jerkbaits. I use 15# on everything else. I keep one flippin rod with braid and my topwater mono. If you are thinking of trying Flourocarbon, stay away from vanish its cheaper then most Flo.carbons for a reason it just dosent hold up as good. The Trilene 100% seems to be good I tried a spool and had no problems with it but I still prefer Seaguar, its worth the money. Pline is a good option but its a little too stiff for spinning options in my book.

Thanks for the info. I was using pline 15lb. in the green but I agree it is awful stiff, was also thinking that maybe something not as stiff would help with getting max depth out of crankbaits and DS Jerkbaits. I did try braided line before and overall it is ok but did notice at first when i first put it on and first cast was great and then after line got wet sometimes it didnt spool very well but last year at a pay lake i caught a 36lb blue cat on 15 lb. braid and strength of line wasnt an issue.
