    Bobber Fishing and Fishing Songs...

I have had some people call the FNF, "Bobber Fishing" because they don't know what the hell it is and don't have a clue what to do with it. I will admit it that I Love to "Bobber Fish" my FNF for big Smallies but hate "Bobber Fish" for anything else. This morning I saw a show about a "Bobber Fishing" that I will NEVER do. It was these guys that hunt Alligators in Florida. It said there are 5 Million people and 2 Million Alligators living in Florida. It takes special tags and this guy was allowed to take 2 Gators from this one lake in one night. There was 3 guys in the boat, all Gander Mountain employees, and they first shot an arrow into the gator that was attached to a line with a huge Bobber on it. Then they pulled up the line and shot them with this 44 caliber 6 foot long sort of "Gun". Taped him closed and pulled him into the boat. They got 2 that night and then went to a different lake the following night and got 2 more. You will easily find me night fishing at Dale in December and Bobber Fishing Dale all winter but you will NEVER find me night "Bobber Fishing" for Gators in Florida. My wife says "Never say Never", NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER will you find my Big behind doing this.

All shows have fishing songs and I have officially found mine. My 4 year old son loves it as well and does this silly dance to it every time it comes on. It is the Keith Warren Outdoor show song and the words go something like this in a slow country accent:

I've got my boat hooked up to my pickup truck, It's time to make my break. My rods and reels are loaded up and I'm tieing on my favorite bait. I'll be catching fish all day long, If their bitin good I ain't coming home, that's the place to be, I love fishin and fishin loves me. The coolers packed and my drinks iced down, I'm ready to cast my line, I can't wait to set my hook on a 7, 8, or 9, I'll be reelin them in all day long, If their bitin good I ain't going home, this is the place to be, I love fishin and fishin loves me.

Pretty much says it all and Mr. Cliff Henson (ie, Clebo, Hens, Netboy) had better hope the bite is on all day or night long for I have now added this song to my arsenal to sing along with the "Fatties" and "Baby Cubs" from Mark Zona. If the bite is slow, it will be a long day on Clebo's ears to pass the time in hopes of a pull down or a tug. We do have a couple of days a Dale next week and then 6 days at North Barkley in Mid April to look forward to and the bite should be on so no singing for me but the night bite will be next and it does get slow at times. I see a pair of ear plugs in Hens's future as hit next "Tackle" purchase for the box.

I love to bobber fish for just about anything. That might be part of the reason that I like the FnF so much.

Elnut I have a friend who lives in Florida in the winter time and he has a gator in his pond. He has been tried to get rid of it for about two months now. If you change your mind he will put you up for a couple days, just let me know.

By the way I have a friend who calls it fly bobbin.

This guy said the Gators will bite the boat, bite a leg, an arm or anything else that gets in the way, plus have been known to come in the boat with you. The only thing that has ever been BIG in my boat is my behind, Smallies, Green Carp and Stripers and I hope to keep it that way plus maybe a big Walleye if I can ever catch one of them. My big behind in a boat is bad enough on flat calm water at Dale where my only fear is falling out in December with 7 layers on for I will sink like a rock and be good structure for the fish. If this happens, I have told Hens to bring his Aqua View to find me, then if any fish are present to work a jig all around and over me to catch them first, then snag me with a 5/0 Gamakatsu with some 400lb Braid to bring me up. If I fell in the water in Florida, there will be a BUNCH of happy gators feasting on my big ass for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks. So much that they will get tired of Human meat and go back to fish. Lets see the logic in the following equation: Night Time, Small Aluminum Boat, Chasing Alligators, In their environment = Nothing that I will EVER do. I thought I was foolish to launch in single digit temps with below zero wind chill in Winter at Dale but these FOOLS have me beat hands down when it comes to the "Lack of ANY common sense department".

I bought my 14" jonboat from an 84 year old gentleman who said he used to take it to Florida every winter. Right under the rear seat, there's a gaff mounted, which he said he needed for the Florida "mudfish." Right under that there's a machete. I asked him about that, and he said he needed that to fend off the alligators. He said he'd used it multiple times. I don't plan on ever doing that, either.

Good news elwood ..........they are no gators in laurel lol. you will have your chance at catching your fair share of walleye there and the only thing you have to worry about are those dang beavers up in craigs creek lol. they scare the crap out of me especially on a dark night with no lights and a 75lb fur coat slaps the waters and soaks you in mid april lol

Mhall was right about the tomato slang...anyway it's sliced, it's all bobber fishing to me. "Bobber fishin' good...bobber fishin' bin bery bery good to me~"

Speaking of those gators...man I'll tell ya what...There was a time in the past down at Green that I felt the same way about dragging an old slimy jaggered tooth Musky in the boat...kind of made me want to fetch my shoes and put'm on real quick.

Re: Bobber Fishing and Fishing Songs...

Another well known site I won't mention where guys say catchin'em on the bobber or bobber fishing. They say this all the time, and man if they don't know what they are doing they are sure posting day after day of huge brown bass caught from the Holler. Some of my best memories in fishing involve watching an ole bobber dance up and down in the chop. Terminology,(spelling), you say tomato I say tamato, means the same thing. The other site I refer to has some guys that absolutely whack some brown bass bobber fishing as they say and I mean some goodens. Oh yea I forgot to mention they also post all the pics you want to look at too of big brown pigs.
