Been there done that Clyde many times at Dale back in 2004 and 2005. Luckily I have only had one skunk days since on Dale Hollow and that day I had 3sons give me a $350 G Loomis FNF rod as a gift so I really can't count that day as a skunk. I do remember my best 2 straight day skunk ever, if there is a BEST 2 straight day skunk. I left Frankfort around 3am Saturday, the day Patrick Sparks did the 2-step as he was being fouled by a Louisville player, hit the free throws to win it for the Big Blue, and launched at Hendricks Creek just before daylight, fished all day until just before dark with nothing, notta, no bites, no fish. Put her on the trailer and drove back to Frankfort, parked the boat, unloaded and put on the cover. Watched the taped basketball game and went to bed around 10pm. Laying there in bed, I decided I was going back the next day, my wife said I was an idiot, but I set the alarm for 2am, broke some ice off the cover, loaded her up and back to Hendricks Creek for another all day of nothing, notta, no bites, no fish. Put her on the trailer just before dark and headed back to Frankfort. Just about 600 miles driven total in both round trips to Dale from Frankfort for NOTHING. Wife still said I was an idiot but I like to think I was DEDICATED. But there is a fine line between DEDICATED and IDIOCRACY and I have been known to overstep that line many times but nothing like a nice big 5lb Brownfish in hand to hand mortal combat with a 10 foot buggy whip. Call me what you want but when you call me, I hope I answer the phone sitting in my boat on Dale Hollow casting to one of my 5 or 6lb honey holes. IT TAKES A WHOLE LOT OF FISHING FOR A LITTLE BIT OF CATCHING. But when THAT day or THAT trip takes place it makes up for all these ZERO days. I have had many more Skunk days than Outstanding days, more so so days than really good days but that is part of the game. If we all went out and caught 50 fish per day of whatever species and they were all excellent quality, then the lakes would be a lot more full than they already are. I hate crowds so I may have to take up basketweaving if this ever happens. Keep your head up Clyde.
