opinions on 1995 Johnson Fast Strike 150's

I have a 1994 150 fast strike, bought new on a ranger, after 5 years oil injector quick while running down lake, and scared the pistons, had it rebuilt for about 1200.00, I have since mixed my oil and motor still runs and starts like the day I bought it. I fish year round and even in the winter it starts with just a turn of the key. When the oil injector alarm when off I turned it off quick but piston walls done scared. That said I have done little except regular maintenance and no other problems, I have been over all happy with it.

I have a 97 and I fish a lot. It has never failed. I use it to troll at low speens8 hours a day very often. Likes the gas but keep it about 3/4 throttle and mileage really increases. Also, I have not bought into the high dollar oil craze. I have always used the cheapest I can find. Usually the walmart brand. It smokes a little on start up but that is the only issue. The motor I had before this one was a 78 Johnson 115 and its still running today. I average about 50 days a year on the water now. But up till about 2 years ago it was closer to 100.

Now I have to find some wood to knock on.

It and the Envinrude Intrudor were two of the best and most reliable engines for there day.

Junk? Can you be more specific, Mr. Bevo? Or are you just being a buzzkill?

Looking at the other posts, it seems the consensus is that these were/are good motors.

Any others have something to add?

I've got 92' model 200 hp., on a 89' 201 Pro Stratos its been a great engine, no problems whatsoever.

Excellent motors, gas guzzlers compared to today's engines, but plain ole carb bullet proof engines
