Are there any crappie in Shanty Hollow?
DA
I aked a F&W officer about it and he said that there used to be a good pop of them but that they get fished hard since it is such a small lake and they are "not like they used to be."
I wouldn't let it deter me though. The ramp there is not the best in the world and the parking is all but non-existant as well.
The lake fell in several years back. A sink hole opened up and nearly drained it. They filled the hole with concrete and has not had any problems since. However the fish in there are few and far between. I heard the shell cracker population is slowly starting to climb back up. I went once last year. Fished for about 5 hours, caught one small blue-gill and a 12inch channel cat that looked like it had a bad disease. But that is just my opinion. Have not heard of anyone talking good about it. The boat ramp is bad. But we did manage to get a 18.5 bass boat in there. I think there is a 5-10hp limit on engine. May want to check before you go.
Thanks for the info. It has been 25 years or so since I fished there. I felt like the water temp would warm up a bet faster there. The laws have changed a bit and I think that It is a no wake or idle speed lake now.
