Flooding in IN

How is the flooding affecting you today? My back yard was flooded but the water's receded now.

I'll bet the lakes are overflowing with water.

Several people have been pulled out of the River here near Evansville, IN and Henderson, KY. One truck drove or slipped into the river and floated downstream with one man still on the truck. He ended up in the river and caught a tree near the shoreline and was clinging to this tree for dear life. Fire Dept got the boat out and rescued him before he got too cold and let go and went under. This happened at 2:30 AM. What is anyone doing on the boat ramp at 2:30 AM during a flood in the pouring rain?

In another incident a guy in a canoe got caught up in the swift backwaters and had to be rescued with a boat.

Be careful out there if you get on the water near rivers or even in the backwaters of the flooded rivers or streams.

A 1/2 mile of my road was under water this morning. I normally leave for work at 6:20AM and didn't leave until 9AM. At that time it had receeded enough so that I could see the center lines and drive thru the water. By evening the road was high and dry.

I saw pics of the French Lick area. Where the Lane Motel is, their parking lot is completely under water. That road there in front of the casino is under water... We saw a pontoon going down the street....Crazy............

I drove North out of Evansville on I-164 and was amazed at all the flooding along this highway. All the low lands to the East of I-164 were flooded. All of Otter Pit, Loon Pit were underwater. You could not even see the outlines of these bodies of water. It was one huge ocean of water.

I tried to get to Bluegrass Pit but the road was flooded over. I saw one truck driving through the water on the road. I was not about to follow him and turned around.

My truck's alternator is not working very well and it's low on the engine. I don't need to get water inside the alternator and have my electrical system fail me when I am 20 minutes from home. Water was over Old Boonville Highway in three places. These are the low areas of this road where it's close to Pigeon Creek.

Stevenson Station Road near Pigeon creek and south of Old Boonville Highway was under water in spots.

Many homes along Pigeon Creek off Green River Road are flooded as well.

I wonder where all the crappie go when the lands flooded like this? Do they come up into the shallow flood waters to feed or do they stay in the deeper water so that they don't get stranded in the flood waters when they recede?

But there won't be any boats launching from the concrete ramps as they are all under water at this time.

The Ohio River's crest at Evansville, IN is scheduled for later tomorrow and Pigeon Creek and Blue Grass Creek both empty into the Ohio River. They won't go down until the River Goes down. That won't be until a day or two from tonight. They if we don't get any more big rains these creeks will eventually lower back to normal levels

Otter Pit just got restocked with a lot of River Fish maybe?

I wonder if the Muskie that the IDNR stocked in Bluegrass and Loon Pits will venture out over the corn fields and enter bluegrass creek and then Pigeon Creek and then make their way into the Ohio River near Dress Plaza?

If the bank fisherman at Dress Plaza start catching Muskie we will know where they came from.

I wonder just how many fish swim up stream into Otter Pit when this area is all under water.

I had been curious as to what this area looked like when it was flooded. I would like to see it from the Eastern Edge of the Property. But that's hard to reach that area. All the area around the creek that runs though Chandler, IN is under water too. Heim road may be flooded too but I didn't check out that area.

I did find one guy who drove his 4 wheeler though the flooded road way and had it float off the road, overturn in the ditch and dump him into the flood waters. I saw him walking out of the flood waters along the submerged road and found out what happened. He lost his $9000 Polaris Sportsman 4 Wheeler. It was upside down in about 4 ft of water and all I could see were the four tires sticking about half way out of the water. Poor guy said he was having fun. Getting your $9,000 four wheeler stuck in back river flood waters and ruined is not my idea of having fun.
