While I don't gamble I do know what comes with casinoes and that is the organized crime element; to be more specific..."The Mafia, Syndicate, Hitmen, Skimmers, or whatever name you choose to call them." There also comes with it the prostitutes and pimps and sexually transmitted diseases.
There are grandiose promises of great riches for the gamblers, better schools, and better cities. The facts of the matter is there will be abject poverty in some of the families because money for housing, food, and utilities, will be lost at the casino. The money that should go to schools and cities will go to feather the nests of crooked politicians and their goons. There will be changes that comes to the places where casinoes are located but it won't be for the better. Surrounding areas will deteriorate because the homeless, drunks, druggies, and street scavengers who will move in closer to try and get handouts from the gamblers.
Life is enough of a "crapshoot" without casinoes. A loose man can already find a two-dollar ***** swinging from every light post in town and she/he won't charge extra for giving the gift of AIDS, HIV or STD.
Legalized gambling may come to the state and it may be exciting and fun in the beginning but, at what price in the long run?
