I am there with you on this one Mhall. I go to the boats on occasion. Next time you are there (or drive by one), take a look around the parking lot. Almost 2/3 of the cars have Kentucky plates. If the money generated is used appropriately, I am all for it too. I chunk of this money in Indiana is used for education. They are able to pay their teachers a good deal more than the teachers in Kentucky, creating a competitive market for teachers - bringing in more quality eduactors, and improving the education for that entire state. Kentucky was forced to raise their teacher salaries to be competitive (Louisville was having a hard time convincing teachers not to make the trip over the bridge for more money). Now there is no money in the education budget left to continue the plan of creating a competitive salary for teachers. Everyone wonders why Kentucky ranks near the bottom in terms of education, but they are one of the lowest paying states in terms of teacher salaries. I love any opportunity to get on the education soap box, and this opportunity presented itself. Under the current plan a large percentage of the money generated from controlled gambling in kentucky would go directly into the education fund.
