This is quite an interesting phenomenon.
Survey after survey says people think Congress is corrupt and inept. Ask the same people, however, about *their* Congressman, and they think he's a great guy.
We don't seem to be able to believe we elected a loser.
Did you read this somewhere? Just curious.
I've been hearing of this for years, it usually comes up whenever the power of incumbency is discussed.
The latest survey I know of was from Pew Research -

48% of Democrats, for example, want most members of Congress to be re-elected. 66% of them, however, want their own guy to be re-elected.
