Re: Beaver lake / Call in show

I spoke to rick the game officer that patrol's beaver and he said that they messed up writing the guide. and that the way it reads it can be misinterpeted. and because of all the confusion he was going to frankfort to talk to his captain's about getting something resolved on the issue.

but for the time being if he caught you idling your big motor he would only give you a warning the first time. after that then you would get a ticket the next time he caught you.

he never said anything about loading or unloading. I've always loaded my boat using the big motor.

back in 2003 I was on beaver and it started storming not real back but rain and lighting, so i fired up the motor and idled back got about 50 feet from the dock looked up and hear came that same game officer that talked to this past weekend by that time storm settled down a little. He came down and was going to give me ticket $200.00 at that time by the way.

Until I explained that a small storm had just came over and that I wasn't going to stay out there on a fiberglass boat holding a graphite rod while it was storming.

some of the other guys there told him that for a second that it was getting pretty nasty. so he didn't ticket me but told me that I could start my motor to load and unload only. but that once I got past the dock that I could get a ticket.

I brought that day up to this officer the other day and he remember it.

I also brought up about the survey that the game depart. did a couple years ago. and how it was funny that the online survey was for 9 different lakes and that if you voted to change 1 lake that the voted counted for all 9 lakes, that it wasn't set up so you could choose yes for this one and no for that one.

but the funny thing was 7 of the 9 got changed. He said that he felt that the old owners had something to do with it. telling the people that she knew that didn't it changed about the survey their at the dock and the online survey, but didn't tell the ones that she knew that wanted change.

And if they ever did another survey that he thought it wouls get changed. with the new guys there and the number of people that wanted change.

If I hear anything about the outcome of his meeting I'll post.

These MORANS are pathetic. It is ok to get swamped by a 9.9HP on a pontoon but now we can't even load the boat onto the trailer. Plenty of water, Dale-Cumberland-Barren-CC-Twin Lakes etc, that will let me launch and re-load my boat with my proper loading equipment. I am sure these lakes sure do like my money filtering into their economy for Lawrenceburg and Beaver Lake will get none of it. I said it in the other post, it is not Beaver Lake, it is LOCALS LAKE. I hope all the locals enjoy it, for they will not have to worry about swamping me.
If you don't like the rules. Don't Play. I have loaded my boat many times without starting the big motor (forgot key's in truck) Oh well.........I guess some people just have to complain about everything. (not necessarily you) Heck you might not want to go to the other lakes either because they don't have a HP limit and those darn jet ski's waking the water. I'm sure you can think of other reasons.

Re: Beaver lake / Call in show

Have pointed my Explorer and Truck down 127 many times straight thru the light that you have to turn right to get to Beaver Lake and will continue to do so. Don't like the rule and Don't play. My point in starting this whole mess is that the regs book was wrong the entire year of 2007 and these morans still did not get it right in the 2008 regs, neither in the book or on the OFFICIAL website. Personally I don't think anyone in the Fish and Wildlife department have the same opinion. I called 2 weeks ago and they guy agreed with me in that the wording was clearly wrong but "Said" the rule is 10hp max. The call in show says can't use a motor over 10 to load or unload. The marina guy says it is ok to use the motor to load or unload. One guy says it is ok to idle around with any size motor. Today I call Frankfort again and they give me the 2 phone numbers of the Anderson County officers that work Beaver Lake. I call them both and leave messages. One calls me right away and says I can't use my motor at all if it is over 10hp. The second calls me back a couple of hours later and says he has never written tickets to anyone using their big motor to load or unload and even goes further to say it is ok to idle the big motor until past the dock, then it has to be turned off. He also went on to say that he feels Beaver Lake should be an "Idle Speed" lake completely and if enough people complain to Frankfort then maybe it gets changed. As far as loading a boat, maybe some of you have a Deep V and maybe some of you don't, I happen to have one and if I coast to my trailer with my big motor running then I end up about 6 feet from the hook and this is with my trailer backed in enough to where when I get it "hooked" the ass end is on the trailer centered and not floating from side to side. I have seen Rangers, Stratos, Triton and Champions all load MUCH easier than mine. So as far as my "Complaining" goes, it is not so easy to load my boat onto a trailer and if the Anderson Community would like to receive the benefits of more fisherman like myself, then the lake will change the "Rules". It will continue to remain a Local Lake until then and that is that. Been swamped too many times by Pontoons and ther ******** 9.9's on Beaver. You can have it. I was pointing out the fact that the "RULES" clearly state that there is NOT a horsepower limit on Beaver Lake and the other 8 or so lakes listed with it. Funny how Malone is clearly stated 150HP max. Correct to the point and accurate. If it stated 150hp or speed as such to not cause........., then you could use twin 300's legally. But the 150hp max clearly stops this. Funny how a fat stupid guy like myself can write the correct reg for Beaver and the others, 10HP max. There is no need for the other such speed as to not cause........for that is the law everywhere. Make Beaver Lake an idle speed lake and staff as many fish and game officers there you want to and I would bet my boat and all my gear that there will be more tickets written for these idiots in the pontoons swamping other people that are engaged in the act of fishing versus others not running at idle speed.

Everyone needs to read the sign posted at the dock.
It states "No wake speed when passing fisherman"
People may not be doing it, but it is the law, and the pontoons
blasting by should get a ticket.
It just needs to be enforced.

Yep, that's how it is with most laws...if only they were enforced! Or maybe we should have a new law that enforces the old law? At least that's how I have seen it done in the past on other issues, NOT.

Re: Beaver lake / Call in show

    Sound like our immigration laws...LOL!

It sounds to me like most would not have a problem if they could just load and unload with a big motor. I agree with that because it is too hard to load some of these heavy rigs without using the motor. I agree with Elnut that if the laws were changed to idle only the majority of tickets written would not be to fisherman. We tend to play by the rules as long as we know what they are.

Having said this if this lake was in my back yard or I liked to fish it I would buy me a kicker motor to run on this lake. Actually I would probably buy me a nice wide jon boat with a 9.9 and be done with it.

I also believe that there are good reasons for not allowing big motors to run on this lake. If all of us were small boat owners with 9.9 hp motors we would all be complaining about allowing big motors on the lake. I think it is a neat deal to have a lake were the small boats are the real owners of the lake. There are so many big waters were the small boats have a hard time and are out of place that a small lake like beaver is perfect for them and serves a nitch in our fishing community.
But there is nothing wrong with allowing the big motors to load and unload.

Just my opinion but I can see it from both sides.

the guys out in the pontoon's waking people live there at the lake. I wonder how long it's been since they've looked at that sign being they don't launch everytime they go out to harass fishermen????

REARRANGED: Read the rules for posting on these boards. If you have a problem with the administration of these boards the rules tell you to contact Jim D or Peter. I removed one of your posts (I am sure the one you are referring to) because you made a direct slam to one of the posters. This is not tolerated (read the rules). Your reaction was to make a post directed to the moderators with vulgarity in it...this is not tolerated either. Sometimes we moderators have to make a judgement call as to whether or not a post should be deleted or not. I made the call...sorry you are not happy about it but that is the way it is. Nothing personal was or is intended. If you want to contact me to discuss this I am more than willing to listen. This is the last time I will address this issue with you on the boards...period.
