Re: Is Ky Lake finally dropping?????

I really hope I am not fishing parking lots here any time soon. Although it does sound like fun.

The water was up into Fenton's parking lot on Thursday. Probably not enough to fish but at 364 that Penisula may be totaly under water.

I need to make it these lakes - I haven't fished Lake Cumberland in 10 years (I fished the river often a few years ago). I've never fished Dale (maybe a couple times as a kid), but I love the Brownies. I still sing the Billy W. theme song every time I catch a smallie "I like catching smallmouth best of all."
Col. I'm sure Elnut wouldn't mind you singing his new Theme song...lol

Re: Is Ky Lake finally dropping?????

Col Forbin, I was down there last weekend Thurs, Fri, and Sat. I noticed the same thing on KY Dam. I went in and asked the operators how their release flow was going to be. They looked to hold the lake up atleast summer pool level from now on out. The water they are releasing is just spilling over the gates that we are used to seeing when we are above the dam. The water coming over those is how high the lake is above the regular gates. When I was there they had one gate open, the rest were "spilling". He told me alot of what they do is based on New Orleans? He also told me TVA doesn't make the call on the water control anymore, they corps of engin. runs the whole show. If the water stays up like this, that will kill the yellow flower bite this year, cause they are already underwater. Hang in there, I think they are forcasting some more rain, so I don't believe the lake level will drop much for a while.

It seems the rivers are too high to be releasing water - especially the ammount to get the lake back at average levels or even a couple feet lower. Do any of you have any information about how they will lower the lakes, or how long the process will take?

The high water doesn't seem to have affected the fish - people are still having good to great days here. How will the added current of water being released affect the fishing?
