Last night I ran into a friend of mine who works for KFWDR. He said they shocked up a 5.25 pounder this week. Wow.
Looking at USGS flow gauges, things are about back to normal. If this rain doesn't muck it up too much, Saturday may be OPENING DAY!

Love to join you Billy, but heading to Barren on Friday to fish the weekend. Small tourney on Sunday, hoping to weigh in a fish or two. Coming back Sunday night and then leaving EARLY Tuesday morning for North Barkley for a few more days of Green Carp action. Come back from that trip and then going back to North Barkley for 7 days with Henson on the 12th, then to South Kentucky the first week of May with Krista and Joshua for both of their first extended fishing trip.
One of my greatest fish stories ever came on Elkhorn. I tied into a fish that actually began to move the canoe. We saw her as she broke water and it was, without a doubt, a bucketmouth. One of the biggest mouths I've ever seen. But as soon as she broke water, it was all she wrote. I guarantee it would had weighted in at least 6 pds.

You do know Elwood IM starting not to like that word ( Green Carp )![]()
I moved down here from Georgetown several years ago. I lived in georgetown for about 7 years. I really miss the elkhorn. I fished it every chance I could get. I would go through stretches where I would fish it every day. I used mainly a fly rod, and there is nothing like catching a 1.5-3 lb. bass (even a "green carp") on a fly rod. I may make a trip there this summer to visit some friends and get back in the elkhorn.
Hang on there George, don't put "My" fish in the same family as "Your" fish for if you tie a 2 pounder of my fish to a 5 pounder of your fish, your fish will be floating on top of the water waving the white flag saying "No Mas". I will admit that for the next 8 weeks or so, I will be fishing for "your" fish at Barren, Ky and Barkley. Sure would like to get a hold of one of your fish in the 8-9 pound range. My guess is she will fight as good as a 4 pounder of my fish but we will wait and see.
