If you were aU.S. government employee..ie...civil service then you certainly do have appeal rights to being fired unless you were on probationary status...state is not involved. It is call the Merit System Protection Board...check it out.

Re: Vet lost job needs some help.....

That is the problem Dave, I WAS hired as a "term" employee and in both instances it was under a year. I even called JAG and they will not return my calls to file a complaint against the government, which I am entitled to do, because the person who handles that here at Knox advised my boss on my dismissal. I cannot afford my own lawyer to fight it, and thus am trying to at least get unemployment (which does not look promising at this point either since I was technically "fired" during my probationary period (at least from what I can understand). I have no experience in this crap, I have never had a job related issue in my life and cannot believe I am having to put up with this crap now. 4 kids and a stay at home mother to support and I am ready to destroy someone for putting me through this, to be honest with you. I am at the end of my rope and just SO frustrated at this point. I have 18 years dedicated to the Army, an MBA and am jobless with no prospect to pay the rent at this point. Isn't life grand? Thanks for the thought though, I do appreciate it.

I know how you feel. What type of work do you do? What is your MBA in? There are LOTS of people on here that might be able to help you with a job. Let us know how it is going. I don't know you or if you are a religious man but, I will say a prayer for you and your family. Ryan.

RYAN: If you will go over to Wal Mart and pick out a couple of push button combo's for this gentleman's young boys and some Berkley Trout Baits, hooks, etc I will send you a check to cover it.
    Dave

cra97: Don't wanna hear no crap about this either....I know a little about the military and civil service having served in the military for 26 years and also having been fired from a civil service job. I can't help you get a job but I can help see your boys go fishing. If I were not booked up all next week you all would be fishing with me. Take those boys fishing there in Louisville and chill out.

Dave, I REALLY appreciate the thought, prayers and help! I am a pretty close to God, and I know he never is said to give us more than we can handle, but honestly this one is the toughest thing I have had to go through in terms of testing my beliefs. I appreciate your generosity, but I would like to pay you back (when I get back on my feet) or I will "pay it forward" in any way I can for you when I am able.
I appreciate all the kindness you all have shown to me in my time of need, and it is amazing that people on here are so willing to help a total stranger in such ways. Please know that my family and I appreciate EVERYTHING (prayers included) you have offered to help us. May god bless you all for your time, help and consideration for a stranger!! THANK YOU ALL!!

    Ryan,

I was an Explosive Ord. Disposal (EOD) Officer in the miliary (which doesn't translate into the civilian sector well yet, as we don't have many IED's here in the states I do have a Series 7, 63, 65 from my days as a Financial Advisor at UBS PaineWebber and Trust Manager at National City Bank (prior to being recalled to Active Duty). I cannot really afford to go back into that because it takes SO LONG to build a book of business these days. I have a Master's of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, that I completed in 2006 with a 3.92/4.0 GPA, and graduated Summa Cum Ladde. Other than that, I have TONS of leadership experience and am pretty well versed in all financial aspects of the business world. In a nut shell, that would sum up the past 18 years of my life. The VA wants me to take 100% non-employability rating, but I cannot do that at 37, as it would drive me crazy not working. Additionally, I could not afford to provide for my family off what VA pays to be honest. Thanks for the idea and let me know if you happen to run by something that may fit my skill set. Take care and thank you again for the thought.

    Rob,
I will give you two brand new rod and reel sets for your boys. I will stop by Wally world in the morning and have them at Skidgel hall on Fort Knox if you want them. Just come to the Battle Simulation Center in Skidgel Hall and ask for Bill. I am more than happy to help a fellow soldier.

Well, I just got home and see that Bill says he is going by Wal Mart in the morning to pick up the rods and reels for your boys. I have been in touch with Ryan and were going to work this out for you tomorrow also but since Bill is jumping in to help out it will probably be more simple that way. Let me know if this does not work out.
Bill, I will be happy to help you out with buying the rods and reels if you just let me know by PM how much you need.

    Bill,

I REALLY appreciate the offer, but I cannot get down to Ft. Knox with my current situation (I am now watching the boys all day long). If you could send them to me, if that is not asking to much, I would certainly appreciate it. My address is:
    Rob Appleby
    11010 Lavender Way
    Louisville, KY 40291
    502-689-5528 (phone)

If you cannot send them via mail I still appreciate it very much. Good luck wetting the lines

I have not been in the middle of these arrangements but was wondering when you plan on taking this trip?

Re: Vet lost job needs some help.....

Anytime next week is my plan due to the kids being on Spring break. It will really depend on what the wife wants to do, and when. Hate to sound like a "whooped man" but if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy (as my pop used to tell me and I have found he was right, as with most things in life). I cancealed out on Brandon White (the guide I was going to use), which I had originally planned to take the boys out with me on a "guided" trip at Cumberland the 12th and 13th. He was a great guy to go out with when I went a month ago (before this all happened) and I would HIGHLY reccommend to anyone looking for a guide, I KNOW he has an opening in a week from now on my account Anyway, the answer to your question is that I may take them up to Frankfurt for a "test run" this weekend if I can swing it, and then out somewhere close by later in the week. Ryan, a EKU bass guy from the site here, told me about the KY wild life place up there where they can all do things that will not cost that much for a few days, and there is fishing to do as well. It should be interesting since I am not a very experienced "fisherman" myself, but I WANT them to have this experience because I know I can still remember, and I am close to 40, the first time my pop took me fishing.

    Cra 97.
If you want to come to Richmond Ky. We have a small lake, Wilgreen, that is idle speed only. I think I might be able to get you 2/3 night stay in their trailer. I will also see that you have a boat&motor to use. Good bluegill, bass, and crappie.
