Patoka is 2 feet from going over the spill way and even know they are pulling water like crazy to keep it from going over I think it will considering the 4 to 5 inches of rain that is expected today and friday. So your answer is probably not going to be able to get under the bridge.

I am hoping that some of this rain finds its way around us so I can enjoy the lake a little this weekend.
There is a crappie tourney coming up here soon and they usually release around Newton Stewart. If you get up there shortly after you can catch some nice slabs in some of the brush piles near the ramps.

    Re: Patoka Info

Yesterday I checked the Lake level for Patoka Lake and it was at 547.3 which is 0.7 (seven tenths of an inch) below the spillway or overflow area.

I also got a confirmation from a friend that the lake was just inches below the spillway last Sunday when he drove by the area.

We have a lot more rain coming before this weekend. This coming weekend they are having the Crappie USA tournament on Patoka lake.

Weather forecasts for the next two days is rain and more rain. It's going to be warm the next few days but by the weekend the temperatures are going to drop into the 50's.

I don't think it will be fun trying to catch all them big crappie on Patoka Lake this coming weekend. Only the really die hard fisherman will do well. But there are a lot of die hards that fish that circuit! So it will be interesting to see what tactics they choose to use with the water this high combined with a cold front.

The spots that I fished in the past are about 10 ft deeper now than normal. I also heard that the section of the lake from Osborn to Kings bridge was very muddy and or stained badly. But that was last Sunday that this was observed. I am not sure how fast the mud settles out of the water at Patoka. I would image pretty quickly as the lake normally is pretty clear and clean. But we have had so much rain this past month that things are not normal this year.

The dogwoods have not bloomed yet. Popcorn trees and Pussy Willows and Bradford Pears have bloomed. The Day Lillie's are up and bloomed already too. Grass needs to be cut. It's spring time alright.

Find clear and warming water and you may find the crappie is what I was told by a very good fisherman who knows Patoka Lake very well.

    Re: Patoka Info

I bet with the hella storm we had last night the water is even higher. There were a few inched of standing water in the fields on my way to work this morning that were not there last night. I also saw the weather last night saying that we could be dipping back into the 40's.
Looks like it will be a bad spring for fishing. Just my luck, the first year in about 8 years that I have real solid time to throw at spring fishing and we get weather like this.
