I am all for posting reports. Dave has the bass covered down here, so stay tuned for my trophy drum reports - I have been wearing them out!!

I for one appreciate your reports Dave always fairly accurate...
Regarding the original post on this thread, fishing reports should only be used as a starting point anyway, if you can read the report and then look at the lake map as a starting point then try to zero in on more specifics because conditions can change hour to hour or even sooner and you have to be prepared to change as conditions change.
example: Ohio river - if they are pulling water you might have to back of bank and if they are pushing water you might have to beat the bank. and the closer to the dam the more affect it might have on the fish.
FISHING IS NOT ABOUT GETTING THE BEST REPORT, ITS ABOUT FIGURING THE FISH OUT....

I would like any fishing report to be by someone who is somewhat qualified...what does that mean? I don't know but I know Dave Stewart has the respect/experience and several others on here fish enough to do a trusted report.
I would consider their report prior to fishing but like any report it's not a fool proof forecast of what's going to happen but just a history lesson of what worked before. JMO
I do get paid to post the reports. After all I do spend a lot of time doing over 100 reports for Kentucky and the southeast US.First I think everyone should realize that Fishin.Com doesnt get paid to have the resourses we have on this site. From the way I have understood it the little bit of money that does come pays for expenses of the site.
I am thankful that I dont have to pay to get on this site and have met some pretty nice guys on here and I think people should realize that fishin.com has offered a privalage to post on here, Its not a god given right to be able to do this. "Count your blessings instead of complaining"
In the winter and up until now the reports from guides in Kentucky have been few and far between due to the weather and the rain. I also had a bout with Pneumonia and got WAY behind on stuff.. THEN google dropped the listings for my Guide Directory and I went into panic mode.. long story, don't ask.. even I do not understand it all..
Still I will get on the reports this week.
NOLIN - Rough, Barren all got 5 inches of rain Friday and are or were rising FAST. Since it is not April 15th the COE will be dropping them back down until then .. or will stop when they get to summer pool.
The rest of the lakes have fairly regular reports.
If I were you and wanted to fish I would find a farm pond. EVERY river and creek is over its banks and muddy that I am aware of.
As for daily reports the only way that will happen is if we do some expensive work on the site. It requires new software etc.. I guess you could talk to Peter about doing discussion forums for each lake.. or body of water in the state but that would be a hassle as well.

The reports are crucial in my opinion. Reports are the largest search category.
I know there are a lot of IT folks on the board. How can it be done easier? It could probably be done from within vBulletin with ratings and all that, but then it would be hard to ad anything else to the page.
If I ever go fishin I always print out a report to take with me. It is a real good starting point.
I agree with DJD here - a report needs to come from qualified or professional fisherman. Dave's reports have spoiled me - honest, informative, detailed but to the point and no hidden agenda. However, many lakes on here aren't as updated as the Ky/Barkley, so I could see where this is a need.I would like any fishing report to be by someone who is somewhat qualified...what does that mean? I don't know but I know Dave Stewart has the respect/experience and several others on here fish enough to do a trusted report.

could it be set up like bass boat central??individual boards..i don't personally think they would need to be updated everyday,i don't take the reports as gospel but something to start with if i havn't been for awhile, since i don't get to go every weekend now it is very helpful to be able to get a few posts of conditions...i still like the figuring out part on my own to see what i know, somtimes it aint much..takes out the fun if someone says go here use this...
Y'all want a report then here ya go:
water - high and muddy
weather - high pressure system now leaving the area
fish - bass decent, crappie bad, catfish ok
I hope this report improves your couch / office chair fishing. Have a nice day.
I hear ya Kevin about the Drum. I have caught so many in the last week its not even funny!!!
I also can see where other parts of the state needs more reports. We just happen to be very lucky to have Dave Stewart on our end of the state and we get an updated report from him every week. Malcom Lane puts out a report often and his has the Crappie reports but Daves report on the Bass is EXCELLENT.
I do like the idea of having a place to post lake specific reports although I can't say I would be any help at all in setting this up on the site. I'm not complaining though because I like the site as a whole as it is.
After reading most of these post I have to wonder how many of you say " I'm not going fishing because the reports that I read are telling me that the fish are not biting good"?
I like to read the reports to find out things like water temp. I also like to hear or read when others are catching or what they are catching. But I am not going to stay home just because the report has little to say. I like the discussion board best of all. I like to read about the fish that you all catch and I like to see the links you post to show the pictures of your catches. Heck it makes me want to fish with folks like Andy!

Personally i hardly look at the report pages. I've been able to read the discussion board and get just about any info i want on any lake. if its not on there then just ask, usually someone will respond and give you some sort of info. may not be honeyholes but some info none the less. i usually will try to put something on after i fish the next day, but considering that i stink it up most days they may not be a lot to offer. after a while you will figure out who fishes what an a regular basis dave stewart on ky, elwood on dale hollow, he may as well be a guide there lol , and a few others who post decent reports and get you started in the right direction.
