Well I had a great trip to Dale last week. Got to Henderick Creek and stayed in one of their cabin`s. Fisheater and his dad was there too. I traded the cost of the cabin for a carpet job in John`s Procraft,,,my old boat. I started out useing jig`s,flukes,chadder baits and caught a few nice fish. But the whole deal was with useing live shad. I don`t think John even had anything but hooks in his boat. We got to fishing in the coves and run in`s and the back of the coves. I got 2 smallies over 21, lots of 19-20plus smallies too I caught 1 largemouth that was 22 in and a couple that was good 4 lbs. We`d take the shad with just a hook and flip around every tree, brush,and any kind of trash. We just let the shad swim free and the next thing you`ll see is the shad running for the surface with a big smallie on it`s heals. We caught lots of fish all nice fish,,,no small ones at all. I hate to say this but Fisheater and his dad flat put it on me! They caught alot more then I did wit halot over 21 inches. We didn`t worry about anybody else fishing in front of us. We watched a guy fish faster in a cover and he never caught a fish,,,john went right behind him and caught 6 off the same bank righ tbehind him. So if you want to catch alot of Big smallies the shads the way to go.
