    Re: Sad News for Bush

i am so thankful for all the men and women who have given themselves for their country. i would like to personally thank your family member for their service as well. however, i feel u have disrespected them in immense proportions by saying the war was for oil. it still baffles me when oil is higher than it has ever been why people say this. we went to war because we have to protect our country. if we would not have went to war, countless attacks would have taken place against our great country and then u same people would be saying we need to go to war. ignorance ceases to amaze me!!
the military is also completely optional. i would suggest if you sign up for the military, you also ought to be ready to serve your country when your country needs you. this is what u signed up for, not just money and perks. GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY!

If you want to talk about ignorance, let's start with YOU...."WE went to war; WE have to protect our country, WE did this, WE did it for freedom." Just when did your part of "WE" go?

Let me tell you something, Pal. My brother was already in the military, about 25 years, when those wars started. He is one of the many people who was there when they brought Saddam Hussein out of that spider filled, lice infested hole in the ground. That war was NOT about our freedom; it was about a lie that George Bush told about weapons of mass destruction. He was sent, in the beginning, to help in the search for WMDs.

It never ceases to amaze me how much some people, who have never served in the military, know so much about the price of freedom. You wouldn't know what it was if it bit you in the @ss. Iraq was in NO WAY responsible for what happened on September 11, 2001. You tell me, how could that unjust war be to protect The United States from Iraq. Then get your dirty arse in your truck and come here and tell my brother's son and grandson about the price of freedom. The little grandson tears the covers off every bed in the house as he searches and screams for "Poppy." You dry his little eyes and explain to him why Poppy isn't coming home.

Even as late as yesterday, some "bright stars" got the idea to make Iraq use profits from their oil to pay for the war. I wonder which country has plans for administering that money.

You owe an apology to every person who has served and those now serving in that hell hole. Don't you ever accuse me of disrespecting any military person by saying the war was about oil. My deceased brother, the one killed in Iraq said the VERY SAME THING. He served 5 tours of duty in that stinking place, and died for what?

Man I am sorry to hear of any loss of life and it must be tough for your family. That being said I don't agree with your take on the war. My opinion is that George Bush was told by U.S. Intelligence that WMD's were in Iraq and Saddam didn't help his country by refusing access at times to the inspectors. Our country wanted someone to pay for the attacks on american soil and anyone associated with the Taliban was going to be judged. Now the Democrats are acting like crawfish and backing up because it's not politically correct. Democrats and Republicans voted on the war not just Bush, blaming him is short sighted at best. The war being for oil and money doesn't hold any water either. How much are we paying for oil now? Was there ever a war that everyone agreed on? People's views on each war probably mimic this war. (Why are we there? It's none of our business! Bring our troops home!) I have read about several wars and come to this conclusion, war ***** no easy way to say it.
You won't find a man or woman on here that feels anything but sorrow for your loss as well as the thousands or other families but attacking another member on here is wrong. He mean't no disrespect. I love these discussions but calling names and throwing accusations out cheapens the whole thread.

    Re: Sad News for Bush

I too served and am now retired after 22 years and if they wanted me to come back and go over there I would jump at the chance. I have been there and it is no picnic but this fight is for freedom. I can be rest assured that no IED's will blow up a childrens school bus here in Kentucky and that's what would happen if we weren't there. We would be fighting them here because they won't quit. Your brother was there because he also seen first hand that he can make a difference. He had the warrior spirit. That is something that someone not in the military doesn't understand. I know it is difficult and it is no consolation for you but your brother is one of our country's heroes and he should be given the utmost respect. People are now brainwashed by the laft wing propaganda of the media. Everybody is screaming "Where are the WMD's?" How easily they forgot about the 17 U.N. resoulutions that Sadaam had violated. What about our pilots getting shot at in the "No fly zone" daily? There is more than "WMD's"! As a fellow veteran, please do not denegrate the actions of your brother by confusing them with politicians actions. It may not seem like it but there are millions of us veterans that respect, love and admire his courage and will remember his sacrifice. I'm sure you are bitter and have every right to be at his loss. It is men like him that built this country and protect this country today. This country cannot survive without sacrifices of such brave men. I can empathize with you because I have lost close friends. But I know what they believed in and I have to respect that.

    Re: Sad News for Bush

I completely 100% agree with DJD and Tom523.

Bassin, I'm truly thankful for your family members' service, and am very sorry for your loss. Maybe that sounds like just another platitude, but it's the truth. Spent 4 years in the service, and I'm the proud owner of a DD214 form that says honorable discharge. Even if I hadn't served my country, I'd still say whatever the hell I wanted. People like your brother have made sure I still can. Feel free to suggest what I should do with my dirty arse, but be forewarned, I bite back.

I disagree with your statement that Iraq was IN NO WAY responsible for 9/11, Iraq has been sponsoring and training terrorists long before their kind were known as Taliban or Al Queda.

People can hate President Bush as vehemently as they want, but unless we're to be subject to their whim and constant attacks, radical Islam is going to have to be dealt with somehow. It would be nice if we could just 'get out from over there' and everything would be okay, but that's just not the way things are.

FACT: A huge number of Muslims in the middle east hate us and want to kill us. That fact ain't going to be changed by America electing a pacifist politician with nice "fresh" ideas. Thinking well, it certainly can only get better with a Democrat president? BO reminds me of Jimmy Carter more than anyone I can think of. Do a little checking on how we fared with terrorists during his administration. They openly assasinated Anwar Sadat to erase any good Jimmy ever did. Hell, he's still over there kow-towing to them every chance he gets, even after all these years. I'm ashamed of him.

    Re: Sad News for Bush

DevilHorse, you do have the right to say whatever you wish. I'm thankful for our freedom. People might understand me a bit more if they knew my family's military history and the stress we face every day. Not only did my brother serve in Iraq but here's a partial list of close family members who are there NOW or have been within the past 5 months. My daughter, son-in-law, grandson, 2 nephews, niece & her husband and there are other distant relatives as well. The stress seems never to ease and I understand that other families are suffering as much as mine.

Not only do the Muslims in the middle east hate us; we have some that are "home grown" who do also, and let's not forget Islam. One peaceful (?) purring reverend comes to mind. Who knows the plans that are being hatched while they pretend to be in the mosques, churches, temples or whatever right here in the United States. I recall the leader of the first bombing in NY.

As for Jimmy Carter, he still has an ego as big as the state of Georgia and just has to hear something about himself in the news. Seeing himself in the mirror each day just isn't enough. I think he should stick to what he does best, and that's building houses for Habitat for Humanity. There is still some good in that old geezer.

Bassin' I pray for you and your family members that are in harm's way. To give you strength and bring them all home safely. I grieve with you, and I think it is good that you express that grief. Be Strong.
