    Tournament Explanation please...

Would someone care to explain to me the difference between boater, non-boater, guaranteed non-boater etc? What limited tournament experience I have involves showing up at the ramp with your buddy and paying $50 to go waste some gas.

    Thanks in advance.

The boater owns the boat, runs the boat, fishes from the front of the boat. The co-angler fishes from the back. At least this has been my experience in the BFL. Guaranteed Angler/co-angler is when you sign up for the tourneys, if I sign up with a Guaranteed boater, then we are both guaranteed to to fish the tourney, but we will still be randomly paired. Anyone else want to jump in here? I gave it my best shot lol

Sounds right to me. I'll just add this, the individual running the trolling motor tends to go strait to his favorite spot. Make sure you take your GPS with you. They love it when you show you care about each spot you go to by recording it.

Thanks for the info guys. I will be sure I take my own personal GPS, two different cameras and some orange ribbon to mark the nearest tree.

Do not forget that gas is headed for four buck a gal. and most outboards get two to three mile per gal. and if its not worth paying half the gas to fish all day you should stay home.

I always give the Boater I draw 30-40 bucks at the meeting. However, if I draw Joe RunandGun, and he wants to run 100 miles or more that day to fish HIS spots, should I really pay above and beyond that??

    Nope. Not me.
But I have another scenario...what if your a boater and get paired with another boater due to circumstances and you take his boat. Now you have spent time and money pre-fishing as he did and on tourny day his fish are not working out. After some discussion you go to your fish that you found from spending your time and money. How does that work? I guess you talk about it before the tourny?

Never had that happen. Honestly never crossed my mind. I would think, geez, i dunno.... I would hope two grown adults could work it out between them. I would probably just pay for half the gas, if I am not mistaken, when this happens, they both get equal time in front, correct?

Man thats the only thing I could imagine that would work, agree what your doing at the meeting. Unfortunatly there are some KVD wannabe's that would make it tough.
