    Angry Safety Always the 1st

One of my friend called me this morning told me a situation he had last night at the upstream of the herrington lake. He went fishing with another friend for whitebass around 6 pm and came back around 8:30pm just before the dark. Since it is the spawning time for whitebass, he just parked his car at the roadside and walked about 1 mile to the upstream of lake herrington for fishing. Around the time he came back, a 40-yr around white male talked with him and kind of waiting for him. When my friend told him he was waiting for another person, that guy was also waiting for him. He felt a little bit strange and ran to his car and took the other friend a little behind. That man used his car to blocked his exit. My friend was frightened and bypassed from the grass. He then chased after my friend about 2~3 miles. Fortuantely, everything is fine. It is terribly frightened. My friend called me this morning to let me know about it. He also told me that he would buy a gun with him after this incident.
i just post this situation just called everybody to be careful when you are out. If you can find several person as a company that will be better.

he did get a good fishing and caught several decent whitebass.

    Good luck!

Hmmmmm..... Was He TRESPASSING? And was the other guy waiting on a friend, The Cops maybe? Safety is always a good thing, and just because there is water to fish doesn't mean that you can walk to it.

I was once fishing Elkhorn creek. Wading. The property owner called the cops and because I was standing on the bottom of the creek I was on his property. They said I could float the creek in a boat and that is legal.

Be Safe, Be Polite, and always have permission from the land owner.

I would be careful thinking a gun is the answer. I love guns and have many but I choose not carry one because deadly mistakes can't be reversed. Going with a friend or friends is the answer...JMO

A friend who is a former game warden always said to carry a gun fishing. He couldn't believe that I didn't ( We do now) But if you do, control your emotions or don't do it. 2 things happen when you pull a gun and neither is a good thing. You can't put a shot bullet back so if you are not prepared to use it don't take one but if you do pull it, you better have the sack to back it. I pray I don't ever have to but I will if need be.

I would leave the guns at home. Baits and hooks work just fine for me when fishing.
Go somewhere you are familiar with, and if not, get appropriate permission. Take a buddy, leave the gun at home, unless it's a hunting trip.

As a fomer soldier I have to point out that this statement is very true in MANY ways. I have had the misfortune of having to look a man in the eyes and pull the trigger (or not be here to tell of it) and see his brains fly out the back of his skull. Having the "sack" to use it is not all its cracked up to be, and this should ALWAYS be a last resort. I can appreciate people wanting to protect themselves, hell I do to, but I find a baseball bat to work just fine to scare people off my back now a days. I hope none of you, who have not already had to do so, will EVER have to use that gun for real. Trust me, the nightmares (even when it was to save your own life) will NEVER leave you. Good luck to all.

I would rather have my gun and not use it than wish I had it. I know where he is talking about everyone fishes there. Some people can not be trusted out there.

    Re: Safety Always the 1st

Thanks everyone for your comments, I am not mean to get any bad atmosphere here. Everyone is very friendly. everytime I met a fisherman, they were just so nice.
I did confirm with my friend, they went to a hot spot fishing last fri night. It is a public entrance. It was scarer at he told me it seemed that guy was not a fisherman. He just want to target a fisherman.
So still as the title of post, safety is always the 1st.
If you want to go, get several friends together and leave before the dark.
