Ryan,
If you donate the rods to Eddie he will put them to good use. Which is what should happen. I have tried over the years to help others out and things like this have happened. I feel if the good Lord blesses me I am responsible to bless others and not worry because he will take care of me. And in turn He will take care of others. You just have to watch out if you know what I mean.
Thanks

Regardless of how this turns out - I think the generosity of the members of site is outstanding. Kindness is a true indication of character. I would hate to think that something like this would discourage any of you from continuing to help those in need. However, I do think I have learned that is better to donate to reliable organizations like "fishing for Kids" and refer those in need to seek assistance from the organizations. Ryan summed it up best, "what comes around goes around," I think this is a two way street - don't think the good deeds go un-noticed.
I still think the members on here that offered assistance and extended their generosity to help someone they did not know are owed an explanation and/or an apology from CRA97.......You were online all morning, and were never short of words in the past, why now?
Last chance to explain...eom.
I know you guys are livid right now and what this a$$clown did was wrong, but I look at it like this, you all tried to do something special and in the end, it will be used by Eddie for the purpose it was really meant to do - help kids fish. Don't worry about cra 97, king karma has a way of setting things strait. cra 97, you crossed king karma, remember the butter commercial from the 70's? "It's not nice to fool with mother nature"? Well, karma is that way once crossed, your hosed. Kudo's to Dave, Ryan, and the rest of you, YOU did the right thing.
Not directed at you Chopper, just jumping in here:
Maybe the guy (Craw) is going through a tough time right now and needs his friends to support him while he works it out. He did mention suffering from post traumatic stress disorder as well as severe back pain and sleeplessness. He lost his job and no telling what kind of grief he's getting from the Misses. Now he make a few bad decisions and is faced with losing his new "friends" on the board. I'm willing to give the guy another chance. You know what they say about having to hit the bottom to pick yourself back up, right.
Or maybe I'm just a sucker!![]()
I sure hope I didn't get taken in by CRA97. I gave him about $300.00 worth of fishing gear. I had not used it in almost 10 years and I thought I was doing him and his boys some good. Just trying to help another vet like myself. Whoa is me if this was all hogwash.
My radar went off a long time ago when this guy went from not being able to take his kids fishing to all of a sudden fishing Qualifier Tourneys and soliciting bass gear for himself. I just did'nt want to labeled as the a**hole that called him out on his scam. The one big clue was the guy who offered to meet him at Ft. Knox, but he suddenly could'nt make it and asked to have it mailed to him. The second tip was the fact that he almost purposely tried to sound fishing ignorant to further get the members of this forum to feel even more sorry for this goober. I will post a public apology IF this guy can actually muster up the grapefruits to post an explanation to the members here. I won't hold my breath though.......
Does anyone in Lexington help with this program.
Please contact Eddie Goode at Fishin4kids.com or his screen name is fishin4kids.......![]()
If the guy was so low as to do this kind of scam, then it'll catch up with him. And if you who gave to him continue your kind and generous ways, that'll catch up with you, too. I know which one I'd rather have catching up with me. But I also agree with Bird. If he really does suffer from PTSD, there may be a reasonable explanation here. Do any of you know his real name? Can you check if he really is a vet? Seems to me if he really is a vet, then chances are the rest of his story's true. If not, he's a criminal.
dave, ryan and the rest of you guys that stepped up to the plate to try and help this guy get himself and his kids out on the water , my hats off to you. it shows how kind and generous people can be and i think that it is a wonderful thing that there are still people like you that will lend a helping hand. it is very unfortanate that this may have been a scam and its horrible that someone could have the nerve to do so on a public forum. i hope it wasnt a scam but it doesnt look good at this point. again my hats off to all of you for your efforts. if this was a scam it is unfortanate for his children as they missed the chance to enjoy fishing.
