late May at Guntersville

I've fished Guntersville during the first or second week in April for the past 10 years or so. Have made a few trips during the summer and a Fall trip or two. This year, we're going down for a few days at the end of May. How does the fishing change at this time of year. Was down about 3 weeks ago and had success on lizards and XR-150's but the topwater bite was almost non-existent. Any advice would be appreciated (BTW, we fish out of Goose Pond.)

You should find a wide open topwater bite in late May. I also have had good success with Senko type baits, 10" ribbontail worms, and C-rigged lizards in the deeper water around stumps. A deep diving crank bait will also produce some big bites in the same stumps.

Thanks Shadlips. Really looking forward to that topwater bite! We ususally have a decent morning topwater bite in early April but it just didn't materialize this year.

The topwater bite isn't really happening yet all over the lake yet. Any day now things should really pick up ..... and I can't wait.
