    Heading off to Laurel Lake....

Heading off to Laurel Lake tomorrow afternoon for 2 gloriously COLD nights of Walleye fishing with DC Basser. My first time on Laurel and if I catch one it will be my first Walleye as well. Left Dale Hollow at the beginning of March and packed away the winter fishing clothes, went to Ky and Barkley a week and a half ago and took my winter fishing clothes for the nice balmy 30 degree morning and 45 degree highs that we had the first 3 days, then the sunscreen and shorts the last few days. Come back, wash and pack away the winter fishing clothes again, today, unpacked the winter fishing clothes for the nice 36 degree night that we will face tomorrow night. Feels weird to pack my winter clothes but not my FNF rods. Is it ever going to warm up, hopefully not, let it stay 30 degree nights and 50 degree days and the FNF season will be upon us SOONER than later. Now where did I put my Fish Dope and my homeade FNF bobbers????

Thanks, plan on putting in a couple of hours before DC gets to the ramp to run the lake a bit to get familiar with it before dark. Just marked up my map highlighting all the timber coves and deeper flats just outside the spawing grounds hoping to catch a Smallie before we chase some eye's.

Hey Elwood, Enjoy your trip down here. Hope you have better luck with Mike than I did last summer. J/K. I would join but got church. Save some for me, for I will be going Thursday. Be safe.

Man all this pressure of catching fish. lol Man am i hopped up and ready to go and just hoping that she is good to us over the next two nights. all reports say it should be a good night if this screwed up weather doesn't mess things up. But to finally get elwood down this way and let me tell you i am really looking forward to it and couldn't be more excited than if it was KVD, Larry Nixon or any other pro. All i know is that for the next two nights i will be fishin with the great Elnutsmalljaws and fish or no fish could be the best trip of the year for me. Wish us well guys and hope for a boat load of smallies and marble eyes and maybe just maybe by thursday night elwood will be posting great walleye recipes that he has got to try out personally.

No pressure on the GREAT GUIDING DC BASSER!!!! All you have to do is put the "great Elnutsmalljaws" (your words not mine) on Walleye, Smallies, Greenies, Gills, Crappie, Catfish, Carp or anything else that will stretch my string. Prefer some 'Eyes for my son, wife and I love some good eatin fish. I did study my Laurel Map last night and this morning and have marked so many spring and summer spots that I wish to try out it is not even funny. Fish or no Fish, we will have a good time tellin truths and lies. I have a bunch that involves Chunknwind so just ask and you shall receive. Sorry Chunk, but just could not resist. I am leaving now at 1:00pm, stopping by Sportsmans Warehouse to pickup more of the "Magical Baits", putting in at Holly Bay around 3pm, meeting DC back at the ramp at 8pm and fishing until time that I can check into the hotel which is 8am. A good 17 hour marathon on the water should make a fat boy pretty sleepy tomorrow. Later DC, see you at Holly Bay at 8pm. Signing off THE GREAT ELNUTSMALLJAWS

I haven't had a chance to read it yet but there's a pretty good article in the latest issue of Walleye Insider in regards to Laurel Lake and the Walleye's.
