All these guys have offered the best tips possible, but I'll let you all in on a new item I found at BPS...It's their new bug repel wrist band...I swear it's the best thing out since sliced bread was invented. The good thing about them is that they will last a long time and only one person on the boat has to wear one. The area of coverage is awesome and you don't have to worry about your whole body smellin like bug spray or getting the stuff on your hands. After you get off the water put the wrist band in a zip lock baggy and use it over and over for something like 120 hours worth of use as long as you store it properly after each use. I've still got my original one from last year and it's still potent as heck when I checked it for the upcoming season.
